He didn't, no... Two opposing reasons for that, both with credibility

Curious why you asked this question?

I presume its a trust in Farke thing?

But he wasn't in charge of recruiting at Norwich anyway (likely hence why he barely used the January signings anyway same as here)

Here he did the same thing and we were worse after February.

Same as 1st relegation season and same at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Different situations surely? What happened at one club is irrelevant to another.

Maybe had they made more signings in January at these clubs or less they'd have done better or worse? Will never know.

1. Farke felt he didn't need new players
2. Norwich didn't back him

The latter seems to be the reason given why he failed twice in the prem so has validity...

Correct you are. Pre February last season we averaged 1.9655 points per match and by the end of the season our average had dropped to 1.9565 points per game. It is like we fell off a cliff results wise after not strengthening the squad.

I think either way - and what happened afterwards - would probably have Farke feeling confident enough that he didn't need new players. It is hard to know whether he wanted new players and it did seem like they had a director of football that singed a lot of players int he Victor Orta style (i.e. gambles rather than for a specific need).

It is. After all he, more than any of us, has the knowhow of getting a team promoted - having done it twice. Whther it was by his choice or the board's he didn't strengthen in January but both times Norwich got promoted comfortably.

Farke absolutely should get promoted with what we have, I don't think anyone disputes that.

But I think a combination of the collapse last season, our clubs own well established history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and the knowledge that it really would just take 1 injury in certain positions to leave us totally out of reliable replacements that made people want signings.

Boom or bust this season so why not push the boat out sort of thing.

Norwich under Farke were in the same position.

They had 2 very important players and behind them nothing else.

Fortunately for them those players were largely reliable fitness wise but a long term Injury, 10+ games and the not buying strategy may have shown its weakness.

We just have to hope the strategy pays off and the Injury gods are kind.

They have been so far compared to many of our rivals so hopefully it continues

The trouble is that if you examine what you said then a team, be it us or previously Norwich, have a couple of important players that basically cannot be replaced by anyone in the squad. Yet you seem to think that players of a similar level are just forming an orderly queue to come and join us to be back-up to those couple of players. Sunderland and Sheff U found it easier as they had the actual openings in their team where they could bring a player in and start them. If for example Struyjk had have needed an operation, along with Wober's continued absence, we might have made a move for a centreback.

I do think that we have internal solutions to solve problems barring a major injury crisis. We have had our seemingly first choice midfield out for most of the season and even since they have both returned I don't think they have played together in midfield. It isn't like we haven't had problems but we have been able to solve them.

Not a level playing field, Bielsa's promotion season and this one.

Bielsa took on a team 16 years in the doldrums, Farke gets a team out of the prem
Bielsa's team not worth much, Farke gets the most expensive team by a distance
Bielsa total salary was league average. Farke has had the highest paid squad

I don't agree at all with this next one but the forum does by a mile

Farke has a much, much better board to work with
