For me that just shows what a great job Bielsa did given the players he had 🤔

Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of Bielsa. My aim was to highlight the ludicrousness of the folks calling for Farke's head.

Whole heartedly agree, I think we are lucky to have him both as a manager/coach and also as a great down to earth person

Erm not really surprised no.

Wasn't huge money spent this January (Man City spent nearly as much as the rest of the league combined).

You'd imagine the only teams that would look at Championship players in January would be ones near the bottom? Piroe already turned that sort of move down 12 months earlier.

So no.

I think he'd do fine, he's a better all round striker than he gets credit for from some.

The right setup in the Premier League he gets goals and assists imo.

Bit surprised DF basically said the counter sit back thing yesterday wasn't the plan.

He wants possession

But I liked it anyway.

Hioe he adopts it more for away games.

Sit back and counter quickly.

Helps we got 1st goal I presume

It's not the plan but it is something that we have been able to do several times and obviously something we work on. The aim is to dominate possession but if teams decide to attack us we are capable of the quick counter.

Watford had a period early in the second-half where they put a sequence of almost 40 consecutive passes, something I haven't seen from any other championship club, they can play a bit, they lacked a No.9 last night (one injured, the other suspended). We kept our shape & eventually recovered the ball. Three minutes later, Cleveley made three places & Watford went to pieces again.

Farke has been proved right on so many issues. Sticking with Meslier. Resting 10 players for the FA cup. Reducing injuries by careful management of substitutions. Not buying players in Jan window that would upset the tight knit unit. He was right, trust the man. His experience of taking teams up is now paying off.

It isn't the plan, he wants us to stick to possession based football, but, all teams will have some pressure on us, more often than not the home team (burnely apart) but the thing is we are ready to move swiftly and gracefully like last night, the Leopard set his trap and was ready to pounce on the gazelle.
With teams in our final 3rd, if we get possession back it's the devastating strike that catches them out, especially James who lightningly quick.
It's good when other sides press us, I want to see how well we cope and last night it was admirably, as I said in the breakfast debate, Joe Rodon looked like he wasn't on, it was so easy at the back.

Very easy to lose momentum by making changes. Despite this it is amazing how some managers get slaughtered by their own fans for not making changes early.

I wonder if anyone is able to tell us whether Farke made any January signings (of any significance) in the two seasons where he got Norwich promoted.

We rarely push on after making substitutions, Cardiff game was an exception, of late. All our cohesion seems to disappear. I can see why Farke sticks with his trusted 12 starters.

To be honest, I've been diasppointed with Joseph, Gnonto & Ramazani when they have come on, and what was Pascal playing at with another one of his dozy moments in the seven minutes he was on the pitch?

Cjay has let me down. Shame on him.

Having done some my own research Farke made 3 January signings in his first promotion season. The first signing made just 1 appearance in 3 seasons. The second player just 1 appearance in 2 seasons. The third signing, a forward scored 3 goals in 24 appearances over 3 seasons. I had not heard of any of them and it is pretty evident that none really had any impact on Norwich gaining promotion. Looks more like signings possible made by the sporting director as 'future projects.'

In the second promotion season their two January signings were Dimitrios Giannoulis (loan signing converted to a full transfer for around £6m following promotion). The left back made 16 appearances and got 1 assist. He filled a need - as Norwich's regular left back was injured and a midfielder had been filling in- rather than a signing to have a big impact (i.e. a striker).

They also signed Ørjan Nyland, presumably as a back up keeper who then left in the summer having made 0 appearances.

So basically Farke did with Norwich as he has done with us and achieved 2 promotions with them.
