Re: Javis first Press Conference

Post by BGwhite »

I wish him well, with all the good luck in the world and I think he's gonna need it !
He's walking into a club and team so unorganized it will hit him between the eyes around 5pm tomorrow how bad it is. He needs time to turn this around but time is the one thing that is fast diminishing but one things for sure...if he starts like marsch did we'll be down and out before he's on first name terms with the players . I certainly don't envy him but who knows what can happen if we beat them tomorrow.
He was clever in deflecting the formation and tactics questions and also players out , let's hope he continues like that as I've never agreed to telling the opposition who's available and who isn't, basically telling them how we're going to play.
Best of luck to him tomorrow!

Me also, unlike a previous manager that even gave the team out 5 days before

Spoke well.

Going to make my injury thread difficult if he won't say anything.

Like that he didn't give much away tactically.

Need an instant impact though

Must win tomorrow

Really nice guy. And humble.

Not trying to talk too much. Admitting that he's only got limited time and knowledge. Focussed on the here and now and trying to inspire the players.

Really like this guy. Hope it works and he gets a long run at the job. Certainly hope he outlives the current board.

I liked his honesty and humility. Good of him not to speak on injuries. To be fair, it shows how focused he is on the here and now. Like he showed up at the training ground, and said "This is the group of players I have to work with for Southampton. I'll start thinking about the other players when I have more time."

I would think a good showing from now to the end of the season that allows him to show us what he can offer ( i think he has been given a no hope job if im honest ) would be enough for the club to think of giving him a proper long term contract for next season, if he open to that of course.
Just hope he keeps us up. Then he can have a contract for as long as he likes. Forget about Ireola's and anyone else we couldn't sign. Javi is our man.

Here’s a short video breaking down everything you need to know about Javi Gracia and why I reckon he’ll ensure Leeds remain in the Premier League this season for those interested. While he may not be the most popular choice in the world, he might just be the most sensible in the short term given the circumstances. I’d love to hear your thoughts and am happy to answer any questions you may have, cheers!

PS: Hope it's okay with mods if I create a thread on this

Mod's - can we drop this guy a message to stop creating his own threads every time and use what we have already.

Javi Gracia is a football obsessive known for 12-hour shifts at the training ground. He can be many things - but he can't be just a nice guy.

It's time for ruthless decisions made by sober characters. The club needs strong leadership because, as the phrase goes: nice guys finish last.
Said he's only been sleeping 2 or 3 hours. I like everything I've heard from him and about him so far.

He appeared really tired, even mentioning that he hadn’t slept much by not knowing what day it is. Good to see the commitment out of the gate.

Yeah, humble and/or tired was my first impression. Kind of opposite to Marsch. More reserved attitude than Marsch...thank god.

Echo that. Love his humility. Less words. More work. Less self congratulation.

Love his whole attitude. Sounds like he's all work. More about getting the job doing than trying to tell us about it.

...but then again results will prove decisive obviously. But maybe if he proves to be
up to it an option for worst case scenario. If we go down could be an option him
staying...saying: he could prove to be a good coach even if we go down.

ps: Of course quite extem circumstances coming in and more or less knowing you
must win first game in charge.

I'd keep him either way.

I think it's kind of shameful of the board to say it's a "flexible contract." Like we're just waiting to get someone better. Admittedly he never stays at a club for too long. But give him the full vote of confidence at least.

IMO.....if he keeps us up, which in our situation must be as tough a job as any new manager has taken on then he deserves the job longer term and dependant on the manner of our relegation he may do enough to deserve a shot at getting us back up.
