Re: Sinisterra Injury
At least Rob and his team will have experience with hammy inuries after last season.
It is one of the risks of pre season as most hammy strains are due to poor conditioning.

Are the physio team to blame? Serious question Ian. What do you mean by poor conditioning? Are our players not ready? Who is to blame for all these ridiculous injuries. This guy passed a medical only last week.....what is going on?
I'm not a happy bunny.....or Swan for that matter!!!
Re: Sinisterra Injury
Is there any way we can blame this on Bert?

It is one of the risks of pre season. Building up fitness. He was one of the group who joined a bit late, then had a long haul flight, then has had internal trips in Oz. It cant help his prep. Conditioning in this case relates to the gradual build up in the muscles to improve stamina and avoid strain.whiteswan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 12:13 am Are the physio team to blame? Last season we saw players limp off after stretching and doing their hammies in, then it was imo related to fatigue but as always when you stretch a muscle there is a risk.
Im annoyed because both he and Firpo will not have enough pre season behind them and may not catch up now. And personally I think overseas tours especially in covid times are a mistake.
Lets hooe he is the last.

I can't agree more about the trip to Australia. Barmy decision. The distance resulting in a very long flight and as you say.....Covid has not gone away.
Re: Sinisterra Injury
Money talks, surely the players would have been better protected staying in the Uk and playing friendlies against lower league teams like Derby (lol) But commercially Radz wants to get max exposure to his product. Covid is rife at the moment, the less you travel, the least you are exposed to it ..No Brainer!
Stop worryin' about what people say, when it ain't gonna stop them anyway.

It does make financial sense to make these type of trips and many Prem clubs do them.velo wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 9:45 am Money talks, surely the players would have been better protected staying in the Uk and playing friendlies against lower league teams like Derby (lol) But commercially Radz wants to get max exposure to his product. It is always risk v reward though.
Three seasons back we went to Oz and we hit the ground running despite going into the season with injuries.
I just feel sorry for the lad and hope he isnt unavailable for too long because we need our flanks to function at their best.

Re: Sinisterra Injury
I think we should always be doing the overseas trips for preseason. It expands our fanbase. Plus, being an expat, I'd love to see our team over here. Probably the biggest complaint would be the tempo some of the games were played at, especially the Villa game. It didn't make sense playing other premier league teams where those a lot of rivalry and competitiveness. Should have been a competition with teams from other countries.Irish Ian wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:35 am It does make financial sense to make these type of trips and many Prem clubs do them.

Re: Sinisterra Injury
Agree Andrew. Playing rivals in friendlies is a tad silly. What's to say that certain players might be targeted if they deem to be a threat to our rivals premier league ambitions? Take out a main striker for example?andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 7:43 pm I think we should always be doing the overseas trips for preseason. It expands our fanbase. Would have been more sensible playing Eurooean teams in Oz, or even Rangers/Celtic

Re: Sinisterra Injury
Agree with you fully. Seems very silly to be playing divisional rivals. Also as a fan it used to be exciting to play a top European team in a friendly rather than just a team you would play that season. I'm all for going to places like the US or Aus to bolster worldwide exposure and marketing but if you go there and end up playing a team from your own league it seems daft (much rather do like the MLB and NFL does and play a competitive fixture ina foreign country - or even like Rugby League when it has it's Magic Weekend). Why not go to Australia and play as an example an Italian, a German and an Australian side in a little tournament?whiteswan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 10:45 am Agree Andrew. If it's his hamstring he's going to be sidelined for a month minimum.
But knowing our luck we won't see him again until October.

Re: Sinisterra Injury
Not an issue, I'd be worried if it were his cruciate ligament as he's done that before and a second time is never good ....
