Be surprised if he joins you tbh.DarrensDodgyDenim wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 8:16 pm Gooner in peace here.
Eduardo Hagn reporting that we've put in a second bid at £47m + £12m in addons. I must admit I'm a bit surprised at our eagerness to sign Raphinha. Not because I do not rate him, I do, but we have so many holes in our squad in other positions. On the right, we play Saka, and it seems an embarrassment of riches to have that position with Saka + Raphinha. Especially, when we are an injury on Partey away from having to play Elneny....
If he leaves, what players are you looking to as a replacement?
His dream move is Barcelona and he wants Champions League football as Ornstein said so he would only see Arsenal as a stepping stone.
Would your fans be OK with knowing that according to the main Arsenal reporter he isn't all that keen on the move?
Raph is versatile enough to play anywhere across the front line.
Could easily play as a 10.
Could play with Saka and would instantly become your best attacker, having read Arsenal fan opinions it's clear the majority of your fans haven't a clue how good Raph really is and criminally underrate him.
£70mil for Raph is cheap given you paid £72m for Pepe and £50mil for White.
We are apparently looking at Cody Gakpo and Charles De Ketelaere.

Re: Raphinha - Arsenal offer below £40mil according to Phil Hay
I think at the moment the fans would accept anyone who could improve the current squad, as long as they give everything on the pitch. People will probably not be bothered about media reports, if he signs, I think he would be warmly received.
Pepe is probably our worst signing since Francis Jeffers. It rightly cost Raul his job, but it is honestly rather sad how it has worked out for Pepe. I have no qualms about the £50m for Ben White. He's done a good job so far for us.
I think your point about gooners underestimating Raphinha might be right, then again we do not know the player as well as your lot does.
Funnily enough, we've also been linked with Gakpo previously.
Chelsea might well jump in on this transfer, but I doubt Barca has the money for this.
Re: Raphinha - Arsenal offer below £40mil according to Phil Hay
Raph would give everything for whoever he plays for I am sure. He proved that last day of the season for us where he could easily have given less than 100% in order to help send us down and facilitate his dream move to Barcelona.DarrensDodgyDenim wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 10:35 pm I think at the moment the fans would accept anyone who could improve the current squad, as long as they give everything on the pitch. As it turned out he did the complete opposite. Was Man of the match, won and scored the penalty and then took the corner that we eventually scored from.
It was the absolute epitome of professional at the expense of his dream move.
He would give his all for Arsenal for aslong as he was there. I think your fans would adore his workrate as well which maybe something your fans don't know about him.
He isn't all flicks and skills, he works his ass off like no other flair player I've seen, top for sprints and all that stuff.
From our point of view we need to look at what you spent on Pepe who is likely the player he would replace and price accordingly.
But most of our fans will wish him well no matter where he goes.
I saw you were linked to Gakpo as well, we seem to be trying to piss off AC Milan

Been linked to two of there targets in 24 hours.
I can see Chelsea coming in for him to, there new owners will likely want to make a statement, thru have the Champions League and Deco will direct him to his former club.
Barcelona haven't a pot to piss in but the other issue was even if they did we would demand the money upfront rather than over the length of his contract in installments.
Barcelona owe over £100mil in just transfer fees as it is.
Absolutely no way they can provide £10s of millions in funds in one go.

Re: Raphinha - Arsenal offer below £40mil according to Phil Hay
Seems Barca has offered £34m for Lewandowski, so they are probably out of the picture. If Raphinha's work rate is how you describe it, I can see why Arteta would be very interested. He has no time for lazy players jogging back.
My worry is obviously Chelsea. They've won more than us in recent years, and they can offer Champions League football. I don't see Spurs as a threat. You don't go there if you want to win something. Though, they did win the Audi Cup recently, and they have two Tropheo Costa del Sol wins, in the 1960s.
Gabriel Sans (@gbsans), who is close to Barca, has reported that Leeds is "considering" an offer from "an English club" of €55m+€15m. The English twitterati has translated "considering" into "accepted". Twitter is a bit of a minefield in the transfer season, but usually that's where news breaks first....
I would imagine you'll be looking to strengthen the team considerably, so as to avoid ending up in the same situation as last season?

i feel like if we could get 1 player in the deal it would be worth 40m. marcelo flores looks really good and would fit the style of play well.

A swap deal just won’t happen James. We want the full dosh for Raphinha. £65M+ add ons or thereabouts.
If we like some players from the buying club, we will go with a separate bid. However buying from PL teams is going to be too expensive, better value abroad.
Regarding Raphinha to Arsenal. It seems like a strange move for him career wise. No CL, their best player plays in the same position (Raphinha is better mind). Would be better served to stay one more year, get his dream Barca move next summer at the peanuts Barca want him for.
However, Deco and Raphinha could now be realizing that their beloved Catalan club may need several years to fix their finances and his move may not happen for a few years. In which case another stepping stone club is required. With that in mind one of the North London clubs so make sense.
He will improve any club he goes to regardless. Superb player with his best yet to come.

I would be surprised if we let Flores go. He is highly regarded. I don't think you'd want him on loan either, he is a bit raw for the Premier League yet.
Re: Raphinha - Arsenal offer below £40mil according to Phil Hay
Raphinha is better than the flop Pepe you paid £77m for, so a bid of £85m would be appropriate rather than Barca, Chelsea, Arsenal or any other club nick him off Leeds on the cheap.DarrensDodgyDenim wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 11:40 am Seems Barca has offered £34m for Lewandowski, so they are probably out of the picture. Re: Raphinha - Arsenal offer below £40mil according to Phil Hay
Thank you kindly.
Aye, sadly Pepe has been a disaster. I feel sorry for him. It's not really his fault he was slammed with a massive price tag. Raul lost his job as Director of Football over that transfer, and rightly so.
Twitter abounds with rumours, but most seem from baitclick merchants. I guess we'll know more in the coming days.
Re: Raphinha - Arsenal offer below £40mil according to Phil Hay
Now I'm really worried about what we will sell Raphinha for.
I expected £120mil the pair with KP.
I'm now really worried we won't even get £100mil

That £65mil better be up front and not including addons.
Still think that's £10mil to little but with our negotiation skills we can't ask for to much.

The problem is the player. He needs bringing into line with his Barcelona dreams.
Him agreeing terms was pure arrogance.

Deco is a large part of this.
He Himself has said he leaves that stuff to Deco
Deco will have sold him the Barcelona dream all Brazilians have and he will have spoken to his idol Ronaldinho.
Can't blame Raph imo.

More annoyed by the club again.
Declan Rice gets linked to Manure and others, David Moyes in an interview "he is an £150mil player".
The West Ham briefed journalists all repeating that line, it doesn't matter that we all know they won't get that.
It shows a line in the sand and sets a stance that West Ham won't be bullied
Raph tapped up by Barcelona.
Leeds telling Phil Hay "oh erm well we don't want to be obstructive and difficult".
And we wonder why clubs like Man City can bend us over ffs.
End of rant

Under Radz and 49ers ownership this is the norm and don't let any fanciful talk of Europe fool you.
Leicester have spent more time out of Europe than in it.
There model is not viable for European qualification.

Did you know? Raphinha scored the opening goal in a Premier League game eight times in 2021-22, the most of any player in the division.

Main difference with DR is that he is younger, has had less injuries and has played a lot longer at the top level. For all West Ham have said the £100m did anyone actually put a bid in below £100m to test their resolve?Cjay wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 9:25 pm More annoyed by the club again.

Be absolutely raging if we get less than £65mil for Raph.
Not £50+ add ons.
£65mil minimum.
The Arsenal move is beneath him.
Be gone to Barcelona within 2 years.
Don't say that as a bitter attack on Arsenal, got no issue with them.
But Raph atm could start for any team in Europe including City and Liverpool.
I really do feel that.
You look at his record for Brazil, basically a goal or assist every 100minutes.
With better players Raph will get basically a goal or assist a game
