No brainer to extend, and either find him enough minutes off the bench or loan him to Forest. Would hate to see him go permanently without being given a proper chance.

When he's played he's looked very good, a tricksy player with pace and great vision. He'll unlock defences wherever he plays

I think he'll want assurances if he signs a new contract, he can't waste a career sat on the bench or playing 23's for much longer.. He's a player that could replace Raph as a winger when we switch to plan B which would need wingers I would assume

Agree, need to tie down a new deal with the view to a loan out or guarantee minutes. With 5 subs plus cup games if we give it a try for once, there should be ample first team time.

So we take the cup seriously but yet play Summerville. So are we going 10 regular starters and Summerville for the cup games?

Sorry Weasel, not following you here. Maybe my initial post did not make sense.

I was just stating that we hopefully will get a cup-run going which should give Summerville some minutes. Did not necessarily say he would start a cup game (but I don't see why not). Anything would be better than playing a team of only U23s (and U18s) because injuries to our first team squad mean we have to do what we did last year.

It was the sort of mixed message that we are taking the cup seriously yet at the same time using it as a chance to play the likes of Summerville.

Well I don't know would we take it seriously (about time we do) though our hand was forced on us last season. IMO Summerville is good enough to play some PL minutes so it's a moot point should we play him in the cup or not. If we were talking someone like Archie Gray (great future), then I could see where my message would sound mixed.

He'll probably be sent out on loan.

Then he will join a club next summer on a free transfer.

Seems to be the standard proceedings at Leeds when it comes to talented young players.

Summerville v Palace .... he seems to be playing inside a lot, plus some excellent defensive work

Think he's up there with Joffy and Greenwood as three players very ready to contribute a lot this season if needed ..

That's great news. If we're ever at full strength Summerville doesn't make the bench. So I was wondering if he'd be confident enough about his place in the squad to sign a new contract.

What now? A loan move? We have Harrison, James, Aaronson, Sinisterra all ahead of him for 2 wing positions. Either we're selling Harrison to Newcastle or Jimmy goes out on loan.

I think the fans and Podcaster widely refer to him as Jimmy. Not sure if his teammates do. Probably all too young to know who Jimmy is.

I agree Jimmy needs to be tied in with an extended contract and given playing time. The point of a bigger squad should mean we have more depth and can rotate players but still have the talent required. So in my view players like Jimmy, Darko, Sonny, Archie and Sam etc should integrate in cup games and time off the bench to continue gaining the experience they need, but this does not mean we do not take these Competitions seriously. In the old days Leeds would have won much more silverware if we had another half a dozen quality players to ease the burden, and last season we almost went down due to lack of squad numbers due to injuries.

With Raph gone he's probably the best right winger at the club... something different when the narrow isn't working. He starts on the bench for me now

Excellent news about Summerville as the lad is very talented. With Gelhardt and Greenwood also signing/poised to sign extensions that's eased my worry about any of them permanently leaving in the immediate future. I wasn't sure if Summerville would extend given his first team minutes have been very limited, but he offers something different. Would like to see him now gain some strength on the ball and some street smarts to go with his oodles of skill and pace.
