I watched most of that and he came across, as he is, a very shrewd experienced pro who wasn't going to give anything juicy away. It's very evident that he knows he's stuff and he has more than done he's homework on the club.

Judging by what was said about the squad being too heavy numbers wise, it looks like there is going to be a considerable clear out of the fringe players and rightly so - we all know - many of these players, likes of Sakho, Grot, Cbicky, Antonnson, etc etc are just nowhere near good enough to sustain a promotion push.

Key then will be the ones coming in have to proven quality at this level or equivalent and be capable of hitting the ground running.

Fasten your belts folks, this is going to be a hell of a ride coming up me thinks.

Haven’t actually listened to the full interview but from the transcript he comes across as a shrewd and intelligent fella, no football cliches and no milking the praise from Guardiola and Poch - quite the opposite in fact. I can see the squad really buying in to this guy and him lifting the level of the whole team, very early days but some cause for optimism from what I read.

Enjoyed the interview.

Warmed to Bielsa a lot.

Very impressed with him distancing himself from Pep and Poch, so many managers would have milked that praise, he was humble and modest.

He wants 4 or 5 positions improved, which is about what most of us said.

He recognises that we have a lot of players that arent of the required quality.

He will look to use the young lads.

He wants to keep the ball on the deck, no hoofing, pleasing style of football, that will help the youth players immensely.

And he stopped short of promising the earth.

Very good interview from a clearly very intelligent and meticulous man.

God bless him for watching al ofl our games from last season, 3 days of his life he wont get back.

Excellent press conference with Bielsa coming across extremely well and being able to make his points despite the need of the interpreter. He will hopefully be able to hit the ground running and with him having watched all the videos he will have seen how the team came unstuck and how TC's tactics had initial success but then ran into problems with the team not being able to execute TC's game plan when teams got physical against us. As TC's way of playing was to some degree similar to Bielsa's it will hopefully stop Bielsa falling into the same traps and give him chance to come up with potential solutions in advance of things going wrong.

I take it he meant he preferred Brian Clough who, in fairness, did set his players free and they did play some scintillating stuff.
This may not be the place and time to say it but Clough was a genius at man-management and who knows where we'd have been if the cards had been dealt a little differently - it could have been Leeds United with 2 European Cups instead of Forest.

Encouraged to read that Bielsa does speak some English, just not confident enough to speak it in front of the cameras.

Thats fine, a man who clearly wants his message to get across, wouldn't want to be misunderstood so thats fine.

Also like the bit about Jamie Shackleton, little things like putting a coach on his side to help and encourage, things as fans we probably would never notice.

What I really liked about Bielsa is that it’s not all football related, my initial fear fir him and the squad he inherited was that he would be too intense for the squad he inherited, I like the fact he wants our team to be filled with good men and has meetings about non football related topics, always a good thing to have the players thinking.
We had two weak minded managers last season, who I feel struggled to get on top of the squad which lead to our implosion, we had no fight, leadership or desire in the second half of the season

Interview with Paraag Marathe, GM of the 49ers, on why he was sold on Bielsa.

I think a lot of the problems from last season (discipline, fall it's behind the scenes etc) stemmed from management, and this idea of a culture change at the club should hopefully remedy that somewhat.

Might also explain why we've not seen some of the squad - maybe they weren't invested in his ideas and so have been asked to leave...

Bielsa was flattered by the Leeds job (Hecky felt entitled).

He wants to cut out the long balls although recognises other teams can force them.

Wasnt behind Vieira sale, club decision, clearly wants a new midfielder especially with the Forshaw injury.

Happy with cbs but happy with another (he wants another).
