Re: Wilfried Gnonto - Fiorentina Loan
The narrative has been, from yourselves and others, that Gnonto wasn't given a chance. 15 successive games at the start of a season is more than a chance, more than Matteo Joseph got, more than Ramizanni got.
Manager then, having had ample sense to assess Gnonto's impact on the team, decided to not select Gnonto - that to me would suggest he hadn't done enough to convince the one person that matters in terms of team selection.
Andy why compare him to Aaronsen? Aaronsen and Gnonto started several games together so it wasn't Aaronsen that took his place, it was Soloman. And I think it isn't hyperbole to suggest that Soloman was a very important player especially at the end of the season.
Sometimes a player just doesn't quite fit into a team plan, The mis-shaped cog that in itself is lovely but doesn't fit into the machine, the round peg in a square hole etc. The fact he had 15 successive starts suggests that Farke was trying to fit him in to how he wanted us to play, the team structure etc.
We saw the same with Piroe and DCL. Piroe likely scores some of the goals DCL doesn't, links play up better when the ball is on the floor etc. But even if Piroe would have scored more goals than DCL it probably doesn't mean we finish higher. Same with Aaronsen. As frustrating as he is with his end product it is his overall game that fits the way we play better, makes us better as a team than we would be with 11 more gifted individuals. That is football and something you don't seem to understand when you look at players solely as individuals.
As we progress than we hopefully get to the point where we get a striker that can do the DCL donkeywork but also do some of the Piroe passes. We get someone who can do the running and pressing that Aaronsen does but have more consistent end product, a player that maybe combines the best of Aaronsen and the best of Gnonto.
A good recent example is the Liverpool friendly where Aaronsen and DCl (amongst others) came on at half time but transformed us. Those 2 were the key players in how we changed the impetus of the match.
I like Gnonto, I just don't see where he fits into our team regardless of whether it is 4 or 5 at the back.

Remind me, where are we as a club now?
Cjay would only be happy if our line-up included the likes of Gnonto, Ramazani, Piroe & Cresswell.
Let's throw in Alioski & Messi too, that should keep him content for a while.

Can't take the humiliation of Daniel Farke starting Aaronson whilst Messi is on the bench.
Let's leave Leo where he is.

Willy tucked one away last night for Fiorentina in the cup.
Hope it continues to go well for him.

Would be good to see Will kickstart his career. Seems a good lad and of course if he does well it is better for the club when we sell him.

Is your name Andy, Cjay?
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.
Gnonto, Wilfried
