You have to realise that they've only just got electricity and running water in some parts of the Black Country!

I think with any of those clubs, and others, you can get good recruitment for a season or two but it is hard to maintain it. All it takes is one or two bad signings and it can crumble. Look at Leicester with signings like Schmeichel, Vardy, Kante, Marhrez, and likely others, but once the signings don't work you can go from League Champions, FA Cup Winners to relegated twice.DDB220 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 2:18 pm Everyone except the 3/4 or so top tier clubs across Europe are selling clubs. You develop a top quality player and PSG , RM, Barca etc have the pull and dough to turn the players eye. You can add the two Manchester clubs and Liverpool, but even they have lost key players to RM and Barca in recent years.
Such is the food chain. Wolves have made a lot of money in the last 5 years but their recruitment has not maintained the same level as previously. The likes of Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth Palace etc all face the same challenges. We will no doubt fall into this group if we establish ourselves.

Think I'm right in saying Fosun started out throwing money around like confetti.PhoenixUnited wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 10:21 am My mate is a season ticket holder at Mulelinix and says they are a selling club, have got rid of their best players and brought in cheap imports. Can't say I recognise most of that team from yesterday. They played like a bunch of strangers quickly put together (which actually they are) do not have anything resembling a cohesive team and do not have any grit and or determination. At the moment. They carry on like that and they are definitely be in the poo.
We shouldn't get too carried away as Wools were a dreadful team yesterday. Other tests will be a lot stiffer than that.
But the Chinese government put a stop to that, it wanted its businesses to keep its money in China.
Ever since then Fosun haven't been able to support Wolves like they did at first and it became a sell to buy model which hasn't worked as well.
Gone are the days of Jorge Mendes handing over Ruben Neves and Jota and so on.

5 games aren't sufficient to make any meaningful judgement as to where we will finish particularly as managers are still settling in new players. However we must be encouraged by the reliability so far of the back 4 and the general solidity in midfield. It was great to have 3 new goalscorers. We certainly shouldn't get carried away yet but if we had been in wolves position and no points then it would be panic stations on this forum. A point or 2 and reasonable performances from the next 2 tricky home games should send us into the international break in good spirits.

Ask my mate who I was sat outside with last night at my fire pit with a bottle of Ardmore (I think) this morning, I’m not sure he’d agree.
(I’m sure there’s a sentence structure in the above clump of words I’ve just typed, I just can’t see it at the minute.)

Edit: actually I remember passing the Setanta offices in Dublin, maybe they are Leeds fans?

Maybe at 11pm in front of a peat fire somewhere in the highlands of Scotlandland, not at lunchtime in Leeds before the game.
