Byram wasn't on the bench. Farke obviously thought he had enough defensive options with Bijol and Justin (Ampadu if necessary)weasel wrote: ↑Sat Sep 20, 2025 6:57 pm I don't think Byram was on the bench, don't know if injured or just Farke wanted attacking options. But yes there was no way we could have gone into the season with just Byram as full back cover. People living in some sort of unrealistic world if they thought we had enough back-up without Justin or we could buy premier league quality for less than £10m who can play either side. It is like a one legged frog thinking he could be super middleweight boxing champion (and for clarification purposes I am talking about being world champion rather than olympic champion).
My guess is that Byram has agreed to playing "sparingly" giving his track record of getting injured when he plays too often and would not mind being the odd man out, left off the bench.
And Harry Gray was on the bench showing that Farke wants to advance him. Gnonto or James would have taken that spot. But the fact he didn't give it to Byram by default was a huge nod towards Harry.
It also shows that our squad is plenty big enough. Something we heard enough complaints about to the contrary. If Gnonto and James had been fit, there's a big call on who misses out on even making the match day squad.

This is quite amusing!
Dave (seems a good bloke) has been producing these type of videos since Wolves & Leeds were both in the championship several seasons ago. Fair play to him, he praises our beloved Leeds.

Great team performance yesterday and for me there were no weak links.
Some have criticised Aaronson I see but he was vital for us at 0-1 down when he found pockets of space in-between the lines to link our play. Very clever play and great movement. Not the most effective wide man but as Farke wants to play 3 midfielders this season then having Aaronson interchanging positions does make sense.

When Tanaka is not playing I think Aaronson is the closest thing we have to what can very loosely be called a playmaker.

Re: Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leeds Utd Match Thread
Very good win yesterday and just what we needed to do, take points of teams that are around the bottom of the table and those that we may well be fighting against to avoid going back down. What we now need is to go into these next 2 games before the international break and pick up another point or two. We have these next 2 games at home and what we have done very well of late, is to make ER a very hard place to come to and get points regardless of the opposition. Bournemouth and Spurs are going to be difficult games, i hope we can at the very least back up this last performance with another two good ones against better teams.
I think the start to this season has been better than most fans hoped for, still early days and still plenty of room for improvement but this league will make you suffer if you ease up.

Before the game, I thought Wolves would've had much better players than us, but now I'm not sure. Tbh I hadn't heard of most of them. I don't really see anyone and think "I wish we had him", maybe the GK or JSL at most.
