And Farke is looking like the arch-tactician we all thought he’d be, high press was spot on against the Barcodes tonight.

Happy with the points haul, if DCL can stay fit we have the PL striker many were crying out for. ..

The big issue is balancing the midfield physical strength with the creativity

I'm not as negative as some of our fans on here.

Yes, we'll lose matches, but then other hand we'll win & draw some, especially at ER.

It's almost year, since we lost a home league game (Burnley 14th Sept 2024)

The lads played really well yesterday and could easily have won. I thought that Longstaff was excellent and Harrison made two delicious through balls that unfortunately DCL could control. Much more confident now as we take on some "weaker" sides.

The lack of goals is worrying, none from open play so far and the one we got was very fortunate

Not a bad idea to build from the back. We have a lot of new faces, they need time to gel. But we are struggling with creativity, it will come….hopefully.

Ironically, in past seasons we moaned about our porous defence and the need to be more solid at the back. Now we appear to addressed this problem to a certain degree based on what we have witnessed so far, but we have concerns about our offensive abilities. It takes time to build a team to compete at this level.

We are on track to finish 17th or higher. I am more than content with how it is coming together.

I would have taken 4 points from those 3 games if asked beforehand. A great start. At this point I am only a little concerend by the lack of goals and creativity. I do think that if we'd have said been playing Everton yesterday and not Newcastle we'd have probably gone for broke late on and ended up with a couple of strikers on - with it being Newcastle I think Farke was happy to get a point so didn't want to risk losing the one point by going for three - as such the like for like replacements.

I think we have also shown a fair bit of flexibility with tactics and shape, maybe not the dramatic changes that are more noticeable but smaller more subtle changes.

The only concern was Arsenal but I think the tactics were fine. There isn't much you can do, as a manager, if everyone looks nervous on the ball. You have to trust your players to be brave enough and good enough to be able to pass their way out of it - I do think that our lack of composure would have surprised Farke and that is why we went long more often against Newcastle. So a great sign that he adapted after the Arsenal match.

The issue is going to be getting the balance right between being competative and tight in midfield and actually creating chances. Would still be nive to have that No10 option who can come on and make things happen if we've built a decent platform.

Farke has got it wrong in both away games so far. I'd like to see us play on the counter attack away from home. Perri long distribution, Harrison balls in behind, DCL physical presence etc so we do have the option. I'd like to see Okafor over James and DCL over Nmecha for Fulham.

Plenty of teams, particularly lower level teams like us, will get done over by Arsenal mate. I’ve put that one to bed.

We're on pace for 50 points with nearly 8% of the season done.

I think that's a large enough sample size to be drawing conclusions, especially since this post isn't subject to peer review.
