Penalty wasn't their first threat. They hit the cross bar before that. And had 3 good chances to finish it off late on.SG90 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:36 pm Same old, same old. Games like this is when you need a proper target man. But we do not have that option on the bench.

It was their first shot on target, which 99.99% results in a goal.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:44 pm Penalty wasn't their first threat. They hit the cross bar before that. And had 3 good chances to finish it off late on.

Gnonto was our only attacking threat

Don't know that I'll be voting for MOTM. Absolutely nobody stood out.
Aaronson was his usual energetic self and did some nice things but it was a Shakespearean game, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. Same for Gnonto. Nobody else was even full of sound and fury.
Tanaka's worst game for us.

And Farke has shown he's learned nothing from last season, as we had so many results like this and there's been no change of tactics or anything. Blunts and Burnley are too consistent for top 2 and we have no chance of winning the playoffs.

Poor performance, too many players went missing, poor execution in the final third.
No urgency until too late.
Rodon man of the match for me.

And everything you say speaks of tactical issues...andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:43 pm Blackburn 8th. Game in hand, could be 6th.
On paper this is not a terrible away loss
But ... just when we seemed to be clicking. We have most of our starters back fully fit. What champo side can bring Ramazani, Solomon, Bamford, and Joseph off the bench, and leave Wober on the bench? We've got an abundance of quality. Makes it disappointing that we lose (and don't look like winning) these games

But throwing on loads of attackers to "cause chaos" has never worked, nor never will, but we can guarantee that'll be the tactic again next time we're behind.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:43 pm Blackburn 8th. Game in hand, could be 6th.

I guess on the bright side we're still sitting second while Sheffield United have been on quite the hot streak (17 points from 21). Where were we relative to the top two this time last year?
We had better beat Derby next weekend, though.

Third defeat of the season and the worst performance.
Against Burnley and Millwall at least we deserved something.

I thought he had a good game. But rushed the chances he had. I can think of 5 and you'd think he could have made better with at least one. The first one was clear on the keeper and he seemed to rush it
Surprised he came off as he'd been our biggest threat the whole game

71% possession
13 shots to 11
5 on target to 2
9 corners to 3
I guess this is what is meant by lying with statistics.

I like Farke and we know what we're going to get with him and I accept that right now, but either he has not got the ability to adapt or like Bielsa is focused on his ethos/setup rather than adaptation. Being objective we have a cracking squad and should be targeting top two.... We are top two but games like this count. Draws away from home count. Like last season if all teams sit deep latter end of season we'll struggle without being able to provide an answer.
Farke/Bielsa's time in the prem shows that tactically, all out attacking football does not work leading to us getting hammered. This is not the prem but to a lesser extent the same rule now applies as I feel the quality of the championship has increased exponentially in recent years.
Managers in the championship don't have the quality to exploit inflexibility while playing attacking football against the quality we possess. So they do the next best thing and play to frustrate, limiting out chances by sitting deep. This generally gets more for them out of a game against us.
