Re: Blackburn Rovers v Leeds Utd Match Thread
Deserved nothing and got nothing
Eustace outmanaged DF again.
Too slow, safe and static
Lack of movement, lack of intensity and lack of an alternative.
Cantwell could have had 3 and Blackburn were very well organised with a plan.
Down below 2ppg again and same as last season away form is costing us.
Sheffield United without the points deduction would be 5 points ahead

Exactly! The starting lineup sucked. Subs weren’t great, but were better and gave us our only attacking threat.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:31 pm Scored and called offside (with work from 2 of the subs) is better than anything that went before

I just think that's a funny comparisonJohnthewhite wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:31 pm Fans turned up, unfortunately the players didn't.

If they players were only required to clap and sing, I'm sure they could compete with anyone

Is that the subs or the natural mind set change that must come with knowing time is running out?andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:31 pm Scored and called offside (with work from 2 of the subs) is better than anything that went before

No answer to a well drilled side who sits deep. We cannot break sides down and everyone knows it. Gnonto or Struijks sitters go in its a different game but equally the two sitters Blackburn had would have finished us.
Appalling considering we have the best squad in the championship with some of the highest wages and know that sides will do this.
Fine with losing games but you could write this story before facing certain teams each and every time.
Play football against us you'll have you're pants pulled down more often than not. Play conservative, spirited scruffy defensive minded football and regardless of your squad quality you limit our chances (we are incredibly wasteful) and can use physicality to nick a goal.
Same happened last season for the run in.
Farke is Farke and I won't say a bad word about him however I'm unsure he'd do well managing a lesser side/team who isnt stocked with quality. Corberan... McKenna had/have lesser sides but adapt to the opposition. We simply dont imo. Arguments for and against for sure and its Farkes way so

Same old, same old. First shot on target, penalty, park the bus, Farke has no clue how to change it, easy 3 points for the opposition. Piroe will get the blame, yet no one else seems to score. Those thinking we don't need signings in January are delusional. Not seen the pen yet, but willing to bet it was saveable. And as for Farke being the best manager in the league, Eustace has beat him 3 times in a row without conceding.

Gnonto should have scored with his first chance. Replay shows he was one on with the keeper
Tanaka was shoulder to shoulder for the penalty. No penalty, Their defender had a much worse challenge on Aaronson in the box.
Although Blackburn could have had 4. Hit the cross bar. Two clear cut chances missed by Cantwell. Their forward that went past Meslier late on looked onside to me.

It wasn't. Meslier guessed correctly but it was placed perfectly and struck with power.SG90 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:36 pm Same old, same old. Disappointing, Eustace knows how to set a team up to play with positional physicality to restrict our players with time on the ball.
The interplay was replaced with desperate more often than not poor quality balls into the box. Pick our MoTM out of that one.
It was a tough watch as we seemed devoid of ideas as the game progressed. They did a number on us without a doubt.

Blackburn 8th. Game in hand, could be 6th.
On paper this is not a terrible away loss
But ... just when we seemed to be clicking. We have most of our starters back fully fit. What champo side can bring Ramazani, Solomon, Bamford, and Joseph off the bench, and leave Wober on the bench? We've got an abundance of quality. Makes it disappointing that we lose (and don't look like winning) these games
