Greek cb.
Not opposed to it. I think we have enough players to cover the central defence. But Farke has spelled out CB as his priority a couple of times. Who knows. Maybe we'll get someone that can organize everyone else.

We ignore ffp at our peril.

Every season they get tighter on it. A side dropping down with the luxury of parachute payments would get seriously penalised in today's atmosphere.

I dont want to rush into buying a whole raft of players who wont fit in.

A CB and a MF are the obvious ones.

The rest depends on whole we lose.
If Adams does we need two MF. But Gray and Ampadu look like the future. Shacks and Bate as rotation and a new player is decent cover. Then there is Bate.
We can absorb Harrison leaving if we keep Gnonto and Jimmy.
If we are serious about Joseph as first team squad then give him until the Jan window to show how credentials

Perhaps a loan or two will help..

Let's do something rare at Leeds.
Give the manager three transfer windows to build a platform

If Cooper's knee injury is serious it could be the end of his season. Would leave us with Struyjk, Cresswell and Hjelde as our first choices at centreback. Not a huge maount of experience there. I wonder if we were lining up this Greek fella in case Cooper went to Saudi but have had to sign him up now due to the Cooper injury.

Shows how quickly things can change in the world of football finance. We may have been looking at selling Cooper and buying the Greek lad for less, giving us a bit of profit. Instead we likely end up paying £3m to £4m for this lad, get no transfer fee for Cooper and also have to pay Cooper's wages for a year. Kind of similar to when we signed Seth Johnson for £8m as we were expecting to sell Dacourt for £16m. Instead we ended up with both, 1 of which was injury prone and we ended up being screwed financially (Dacourt eventually leaving for £1m and Seth hardly kicking a ball for us).

I was ignoring Cooper's injury today. Yes. If we do lose him, we do need another CB in. My initial assessment had been that we have enough with Cooper, Strujik, Cresswell, Ayling (more than capable at this level) and Hjelde. But, if Cooper is out then we only have 2 full time CB's.

Also there are a lot of questions when it comes to squad and what we need. Does Adams leave? If he stays, he allows Ampadu to cover at the back, or can play RB himself. Hopefully the club/board have better control right now over who is leaving and who is not. Would hate to think we'd have it all figured out on August 31st. Then 3 of our first teamers get transfer deadline moves.

Given the injury a new CB would be sensible. we have a lot of attacking options but central defence (though I do rate Kris Moore very highly) will need a boost if it's serious for Coop.

Covering Central defence maybe, but we have had one of the worst defences in the league for years.

Farke has a reputation for not being the best defensive coach in the world either (criticised by both Borussia Mönchengladbach and Norwich fans for this).

So we may have cover but is it good cover? Today suggests not (it was dire at times).

Is it time to accept the defenders we have just aren't very good?

Big difference between cover and quality.

It's debatable whether we have either imo.

I do wonder if the Cooper to Saudiville links were true and maybe they started a couple of weeks ago, we then look for a replacement but were waiting for the Cooper deal to go through before buying the Greek lad. Maybe it is just down to waiting for Adams to be sold so that we have money to spend on signings.

We needed a central defender anyway once Wober left.

Phil Hay said today it still isn't certain Cooper won't go to Saudi so we may need two.

It's all very slow at the moment.

We now have 11 players out injured.

Almost all of them weeks away from a return atleast.

Probably about time the 49ers got their finger out . . . . . . . . .

Be nice to see some of that ambition and aggression in the transfer market that they leaked to the media and Marathe said in the interview.

Thinking about the 16 players thing.

Meslier
Darlow
Ayling
Cooper
Struijk
Cresswell
Hjelde
Ampadu
Gray
Poveda
Sini
Gnonto
Summerville
James
Gelhardt
Byram.

That would be 16.

But we had 20 in the squad vs Cardiff so he must have called up players he had training with the u21s.

Bate
Gyabi
Perkins
Shacks

That's 20

Does he see those as u21s?

Or even are some of those 20 squad injured as well and couldn't train?

Apparently FFP rules are restricting transfer spending.

And it's a different set of rules than the EPL's ... EFL really is a shitty third rate organization

Seems another solid signing.

They seem to be getting decent targets.

It's the speed that is the issue.

Would be OK if we had a fairly large squad.

We don't it's decimated by injuries and loans.

We're about 18 players gone one way or another.

Between now and windows end they need to be making a signing every 3 or 4 days realistically

Would seem unlikely at that price.

Given we hardly seem overly flush with cash a right back would be odd.

I think this is gonna be spot on.

I don't know much about it coz can't be arsed to read owt, but i sense the football league is trying to head in the direction of what Rugby has done, especially throughout the lower leagues.

The Prem seems to have it's own 'rules' which seem to be open to interpretation for the 'rich'
Not dependent on Google, the www or 'stats' - Just a guy that puts his eyes to full use on the beautiful game :geek: ...That Ayling goal and "You couldn't script it  " - Dirty Leeds B@stard.
Must dash.

Hotting up today, makes me think Harrison, Adams and Drameh could all be out the door soon.
