Early for a player thread bump i know.

But i thought he was absolutely immense today, goal was one thing, but his defensive play was fantastic.

Positioning, timing of tackles, everything.

Offensively he was really good, a really willing outlet.

He has had a ton of criticism in his time here.

It hasnt been undeserved, he himself has acknowledged his poor form, as have managers.

But today he was fantastic.

A run of games in your preferred position helps immensely.
There will be times when he gets a silly booking or has a mare but preferred to Pascal in that role any day for me.

Junior has looked good in these last few games. I don't think it's a coincidence that his confidence and improvement have come with the additions of Worber and McKennie in the January window. Adding McKennie has allowed Adams to play on the left side of the 4-2-3-1. So now Junior is surrounded by better players that have the ability to provide cover and allow him to find his game.

Amazing how much better our left and right backs are defensively now that the middle (with Adams, McKennie, Wober, and Koch) is sorted. I'm hopeful this is not the last clean sheet we will see in our future.

Can’t see any problem with constructive criticism of any player. Firpo seems to have finally got his feet under the table so to speak.

Firpo is looking better and like others have said it is likely down to both having a run of matches, so he is match fit and his timing and decision making is sharper, and there is a better structure to how we are playing with the key being Adams not having to cover as much of the pitch as he had been trying to do. Firpo has been very unlucky with circumstances so far. Since he arived he has continually picked up injuries which have not allowed him to have a good run of matches and also because of the injury situation last year and tactics this year he hasn't really ever been in a settled side that has been playing well.

He was doing the Meslier with the fans at the end. He looks like he is finally enjoying his football and maybe just maybe starting to justify his price tag. When's his contract up...Shhhhhh

The improvement has been from being injury free, adapting to the Premier and getting a run in the first team... I was a fan last season, I know what I saw then and once seen I almost never change my mind....

He has rightly been loudly criticized on here. He's been slow, no positional sense and a yellow card about to happen every time he attempts a tackle. HOWEVER if he continues to play like he has for the last 2 or 3 games then maybe Struiik can concentrate on trying to win one of the central defender positions. Well done today Junior.

Indeed, for the majority of the games he's played since joining, he's been poor, and there's no two ways about it. Great to see him hitting some form in the past few games, let's hope there's some consistency. A few good games and some folk have a semi on.

I have critisized Firpo often for his defensive frailties, but fair play to him, in the last few games he has shone. He has always looked decent going forward, but his defensive performances have been much better too. His goal today was vital, and I hope it gives him the confidence to maintain this form.
