Holy s**t Victor are you really calling people out for being negative.Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 10:13 pm Do you really think we are going to balls this up? So much negativity. We all wanted Marsch gone and our wish has been granted. Let's lighten up a bit and be thankful that JM has gone! Whoever comes in is going to be a darn sight better than what we had...
PS: JM was a massive downgrade after Bielsa: should never have been appointed. Hindsight eh?

I get the feeling they are the 2 on the shortlist.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 10:12 pm Hopefully the fact Phil named Iraola and not Corberan means it's not the latter.
If its a choice between the 2 it shouldn't even be close.
Rayo Vallecano now up to 5th in La Liga with only 3 points behind Atletico Madrid and using the 5th smallest budget in the League.
Both risky but one far more proven.
Iraola may be number one choice but the least likely to say yes.
So I’m reading Raul was the number 1 choice originally but won’t leave his current job mid season plus I’m guessing he might be RM first team coach at some point?
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

To be honest CJAY any name carries an element of risk. Even the dream appointments - Tuchel and Poch haven’t been in a PL relegation scrap. Tough gig coming into a club which is in danger of relegation, massive expectation, in poor form and with limited games left.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 10:12 pm Hopefully the fact Phil named Iraola and not Corberan means it's not the latter.

Just googled Iraola. It is apparent with the connections why he is one of the favourites.

Very true DDB, everyone is a risk.
But just from my perspective as a fan I always like to look at what a manager has done previously as validation maybe? Comfort when it's not going well? Proof they can do the job?
Bielsa had that to a degree.
Marsch didn't
Corberan doesn't, ultimately he has never achieved anything at senior level. Even his Championship record is nothing special, would be 70 points over a season, it's nothing dozens haven't improved on before.
Atleast Iraola has achieved things, not in England but at the same age basically as Corberan he has a team 5th in La Liga.
Has a promotion to his name and a couple of Cup Semi Finals with clubs not expected to get there

It would certainly be a way of ending a lot of arguments as he would either A) Save us despite us being in a worse position than when he was sacked and prove those who had faith in Bielsa were right or B) Take us down with a whimper and prove that the Bielsa doubters were right as he'd be taking us down with a better team than he had last year.White Riot wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 8:13 pm If we wanna get relegated in style then reappoint Bielsa, cos that's what was happening last season.

Abso-freakin-lutely! We've all been screaming foir the board to sack Jesse after supporting him in the window to the tune of £60m (possibly £85m+) and people are whining about who we are going to replace him! Be thankful he's gone and slag the board off if they get another tw@t in but let's enjoy the fact that JM is gone for a bit eh?
PS: It's going to be Rafa B: he has friends on the leeds board! There: I said it

Absolutely no chance Bielsa will return.
A/ The board will look stupid
B/ He needs a pre-season even if he wanted to return, which I very highly doubt.

I love Ange Postecoglou. He managed my team, Brisbane FC, to back to back championships before his success in Japan and Scotland. But as much as I would be thrilled to have him at Leeds, he is not the type of manager you need for a relegation scrap. He’s similar to Bielsa in thinking - he has a high press, attacking football system and he recruits players to play specific roles in the system. But he needs a pre-season to get the right players and coach the system . Like Bielsa, his belief in his system means there is no plan B.Cjay wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 5:46 pm There is so many names
Excluding Bielsa and Tuchel and Poch because its highly likely not them
Carlos Corberan
Ange Postecoglou
Steven Gerrard
Ralph Hasenhüttl
Marcelo Gallardo
Kjetil Knutsen
Rafa Benitez
Nuno Esperito Santo
Ivan Juric
Vincent Konpany
Gennaro Gattuso
Xabi Alonso
Thomas Frank
Matthias Jaissle
Pepe Bordelas
Tons more
If the worst happened, he’d be my first pick to lead us back from the Championship.

Big Sam for me, we are a mess. Ditch the pressing we don’t have a defence capable for it. Clean sheets and nick games 1-0.

What about Brendon Rogers?? Could we offer him a challenge to reinvigorate his career...he's got the top level experience required and he is a decent top half PL manager imo. Plays attacking football to boot which would suit our current squad. He would be a expensive option tho.

took huddersfield from 18th to 3rd in two seasons...
10 wins in 12 for a west brom team who were in the relegation zone when he joined...
of course not guarantee but can't say he's not looking good

How relaxed are ya that Orta is on the blower as we speak ?
As has been proved with Jesse, it could be any fcker, and probably will be, we will continually have to wing it until he departs these shores for pastures new hopefully in Saudi Arabian football.

Interview with Iraola from just 2 weeks ago.
I found his comments about what he would do if he arrived mid season interesting

I don't know huge amounts about him, watched a few Celtic matches, decent enough, wasn't overly impressed.
Just be a bit unsure about a guy pushing 60 whose highest level is Scotland.
And he wouldn't be the first Manager to do well there and do nothing of note in a better league.
That would be my concern for the Australian Steven Gerrard (hello Celtic fans)

Over less than half a season yes.
But his overall record includes a 20th placed finish with Huddersfield.
Not to mention playing absolutely dire football.
He certainly won't bring back BielsaBall if that is what people hope.
