January 2023 Transfers and Squad Discussion-

Post by Cjay »

It's that time again.

The time where Leeds United mess about for a month and end with naff all or make the squad weaker :)

So this is the place for all the rumours, thoughts, discussions, debates, complaints, and just general tomfoolery.

Imagine we actually improved the first team squad Jesse, what would you think of that?

I don't think we're going to get a real idea until the world cup break.

3 games to focus on. League position could go either way. Could have a new manager. I'd rather avoid all the speculation until the world cup break.

If we couldn't afford to sign anymore in the summer, it's highly unlikely we'll be bringing in new signings in January.

A plus £25M offer may he too good to turn down.

Newcastle overspent in the summer but they will be in the market for a couple of players of players as will Forest.

Think that will likely be the case. Seems like he isn't a great fit for this system so if it looks like JM is going to be in charge after the transfer window then it makes sense to cash in an spend the money on players who fit the system. Newcastle will likely still be keen and looking to push on for a potential top 4 finish.

Still some chatter this side of the Atlantic that Philadelphia Union Left Back Kai Wagner might be headed to LUFC in January. Philly are playing in the MLS Cup Final on Saturday.

The 25 yo German has 15 assists this season. He delivers great service. And he would come cheap. It’s worth the small risk to see if he can make the jump to the Premier League.

7 of our official 25 outfield 1st team squad started vs an under strength Crewe side 16th in League 2 and lost on pens.

But apparently we have tons of depth for a Premier League team in its 3rd season.

We have also seen in the past we have fielded near full strength teams and lost to lower league teams in the FA Cup.

KAI WAGNER was named to the 2022 MLS Best XI today. For reference, Brendon Aaronson was named MLS Best XI in 2020 before his move to Salzburg. And surprisingly, Tyler Adams was never named to the MLS Best XI prior to moving from RBNY to RB Leipzig.

I'm hearing that a transfer fee of $5-7M would are required.
