Re: Liverpool V Leeds Utd Match Thread - Jesse Marsch faces injury crisis

Post by weasel »

Great result and performance, hopefully not a false dawn, like the Chelsea match proved to be, and we can build on it.

Those knocking Gnonto - have a look at the composure he showed to get away from the first Liverpool player and then the composure to wait until the right moment to play the pass with 3 Liverpool players around him. I would echo what Mancini has said about him that he looks to have a very good footballing brain.

Also great to see the way the players were with Summerville after the match finished. Looks like he has grown up a bit and is part of the team rather than a precocious youngster believing he is better than he is.

Now we just need to show up against the bottom half teams
. Yep need to back up it now v Bournemouth, whose luck has run out.

Summerville stepping up where others arent!

Who's knocking him? I thought he did well. You've got to ease him slowly. I'd have subbed Jimmy as he looked tired, but Harrison was absolutely the right call.

Every time I've seen Cry play he's been good... he has scary speed matched with a good eye and balance. I don't think I was far off when I said he's not far behind Raph

He's not in my sig for nothing

Tbh the only one knocking Gnonto was Marsch. We all knew we'd signed an Italy international. Took Jesse 2 months to realize.

Confidence with Summerville. STarted game on wrong side. Didnt help. Some nice work but some poor final balls too. We know he has ability. Hopefully he continues this and establishes himself.

No doubt we will get 2 mins, where as if we had lost we would be the main game

I am totally drained now and my throat is sore from shouting when Summerville scored.

Time that the Marsch detractors got off his back now and gave the guy a chance. Some changing their tune already I see...

Well can you believe that? My stream went down for the last 20 minutes of the game so I missed our winning goal, but, whilst they had the lions share of the possession, we matched ‘em for shots and chances created. Happy as Larry now - unexpected but great win. Well done the lads and we’ll done Jesse!

He's bought himself some time, he's got to sort out how to play against the teams that won't play how he wants them to.

Can see why Marsch hasn't used him until now, especially if he's going to play him there. Didn't track back particularly well and he's going to get beaten in the air regularly. But the move to get past the defender was nice and it was a nicely timed and weighted ball for the goal.
