Who would you sell?

So we are going to sell players this summer.

We haven't got a choice, we need funds, we don't have generous and wealthy owners.

And this squad needs significant changes made to it.

Not just 2 or 3 players but nearer to 5 or 6.

So for these valuations who would you sell?

Raphinha- £60mil.

Kalvin Phillips- £50mil.

Diego Llorente- £15mil.

Robin Koch- £15mil.

Helder Costa -£6mil.

Jack Harrison- £35mil.

Tyler Roberts- £5mil.

Mateusz Klich- £2mil.

Pascal Struijk- £20mil.

Junior Firpo- £10mil.

Rodrigo- £12mil.

Illan Meslier- £30mil.

Dan James- £25mil.

Joe Gelhardt- £10mil

Crysencio Summerville- £3mil

Charlie Cresswell- £3mil

Patrick Bamford- £15mil

People will have 17 votes so can vote for everyone but only vote for the ones you would sell at that price.

Costa, James, Rod, Firpo, Roberts, Struijk.

That would probably bring in £50m if Struijk sells well.

Here is why.

Costa and James replaced by Jimmy
Firpo by new purchases, one being the lad from Aberdeen.
Struijk to rase good money plus we have plenty of cover.
Rodrigo to ease the wage bill as we have Joffy and Greenwood plus but a striker.
Roberts

In fact even if Raph leaves I would still look to move them on.

Slightly off topic but I wonder what transfer pool we see ourselves in?

Top 6 we cant compete with.
Villa, Newcastle, WH and Wolves are also at this point are trading in a richer market. Everton should be but will need to sell large to be able to buy anyone of note.

The rest?

I wonder where Leicester, SH and Brighton are too.

I went Costa, Roberts, Firpo and James. Costa and Roberts as they've had their chances, Firpo because whilst he might bed in second season, he is currently a liability defensively and James because he isn't a CF and Marsch doesn't play with width. We'd be lucky to get £40 for the lot, but that's who I'd jettison initially

Same looney that comes in for Costa most likely. Costa & Roberts sounds like a double act.

We paid £2.5mil for him when he was 18.

Surely he is worth £5mil now?

In fact Liverpool got £19mil for Dominic Solanke when all he had were 8 career league goals (7 of which were in the notoriously easy to score in Dutch league).

Compared to Solanke Roberts with his 7 Championship goals, 2 Premier League goals and 9 league 1 goals is practically Alan Shearer.

Went for:
Helder Costa
Jack Harrison, at £35 mil you just would.
Tyler Roberts, £5 would be enough for me.
Pascal Struijk, Not enough pace and always not quite there to block, and £20mil would be handy.
Junior Firpo, if we could somehow get £10mil. Can't see it though.
Rodrigo, Shame but cut losses, even at £12mil.
Illan Meslier, £30mil could probably get us another younger Keeper plus some experience.
Dan James, doesn't fit so a money back deal would be great, won't happen though unless he plays a blinder in the W.C if Wales get there.

I would sell Phillips if we were able to retain Raph, if not keep him. I would do it on the basis of generating cash to strengthen the team, and also cos he seems to becoming more injury prone.

Llorente because he is too inconsistent at this level and I feel some of the younger defenders should be given a chance.

Firpo because his defensive frailties are there for all to see, too often beaten by attacking players and reverts to grabbing them and giving fouls away around the box.

Rodrigo because he has rarely showed the ability we were expecting, just not good enough or consistent enough for the Premier League.

Roberts, I think most of us agree he is out of this depth at this level.

Costa because we have better wingers at the club and he is probably at his level in the Championship.

Klich, his best days are behind him, time to get some money back and recruit new midfield players.

Robin Koch- £15mil. Would keep, we have yet to see him have a run in his favoured position. German international for a reason

Helder Costa -£6mil. - Would sell, hasn't really done it for us

Jack Harrison- £35mil. - Would keep as think he will continue to get better

Tyler Roberts- £5mil. Would sell, hasn't really done it for us

Mateusz Klich- £2mil. Would sell, if we got £2m back as I don't think he is suited to the new manager's tactics and his best days are probably behind him now

Pascal Struijk- £20mil. Would keep but would sell if the offer was a bit higher

Junior Firpo- £10mil. - Would sell. Think he will get better but too injury prone and too many yellow cards

Rodrigo- £12mil. Would sell, hasn't really done it for us

Illan Meslier- £30mil. Would sell, we can definitely get a better keeper for that money even if they were a few years older

Dan James- £25mil. Would sell. If Bielsa was still here I would keep as I think Bielsa had big plans for him.

Joe Gelhardt- £10mil Keep

Crysencio Summerville- £3mil Keep

Charlie Cresswell- £3mil Keep

Patrick Bamford- £15mil Keep - if uninjured we would be gamblign to get better for that money

Don't really know , Ayling possibly too as well as Costa , Roberts , Bamford maybe as he does seem injury prone and ideally you want a striker who is around mos of the season .Selling Raph would raise a lot and be wants to go by all accounts , do you want someone who does want to be there ? You need their head in the right place . It's a tricky one really but you need a far better squad than last time around .

I have to give it a bit more thought.

Incidentally I haven't added people like Dallas and Ayling and Forshaw because they are injured and worth very little anyway.

And even if we could get a few mill each nobody is buying them this summer.

I voted for Kalvin Phillips. As an England international he should go for absolute top money. And based on the idea that he might not be able to play with anyone alongside him in defensive midfield he might not be a good fit in JM's system. Whatever that will be....

But the interesting one for me is Meslier. I would sell him for $30M in a heartbeat. Then get Zach Steffen on loan from Man City. Steffen is a premier league level talent for sure. But he needs to play. That is my selfish dream as a USA supporter. But I also truly believe he would be a great addition for Leeds United.

I'd let Klich move if he wanted, sell James IF we could get the 25, Sell Costa for whatever.. That's about it tbh, I could write something about Roberts but I'll only get the idiots on my back again... I wouldn't sell him though

I'd keep Raph and Kalvin if we could. IMO we have a mid table starting 11 playing 4-1-4-1. We'd need to spend 200 plus while keeping what we have to finish top 6 consistently

This is far too complex a question to say simply "I would sell this guy" or "I would sell that guy."

I wouldn't sell Raphinha or Kalvin, but that decision is complicated by the fact that he/they may or may not want to go and others might be willing to pay very good money to obtain their services. If we decide to sell any player we have to ask what, if any, holes it would open up, who might be out there to address our needs, and what we would have to obtain those individuals. If selling Raphinha brings us Dest, Minamino, and one other quality player, then I'm all for it, much as I would hate to see him go.

It's further complicated by the fact that we don't really know what system Marsch is going to install. The lineups he came up with over the last few months were mostly forced upon him; we never really got to see his preferred tactics (I think) (I hope).

Let's just hope that whoever they decide to buy/sell, they conclude that business expeditiously, so everyone has a chance to work together before the season starts.
