Hmm... from what I remember this thread turned from a transfer debate into Bielsa vs Marsch with the following comment from Sara ,

After that it descended into another Marsch vs Bielsa thread....Bitterness about the sacking oozes out everywhere unfortunately, and slants just about every topic back to the merits or otherwise of the previous manager.

Well how about some stats?

Let's take Bielsa's last 12 games in charge, and compare the stats with Marsch's 12 games.

It's quite a fair comparison, as looking at the fixtures it's pretty even in terms of the levels of the teams that both managers faced in those 12 games. They both faced pretty well the same no of top teams, and both produced a win which was unexpected - away at West Ham with Bielsa, and away at Wolves with Marsch. That's where the similarities end though.

Here are the stats ;

Bielsa - last 12 games.

2 draws

16 goals scored
40 goals conceded
8 points

Marsch - 12 games in charge

4 wins
5 losses
3 draws

13 goals scored

I'm not sure how much more conclusive the facts could be - I mean you can tell some people that the Sun rises in the east and sets in the west, and they still wont accept it.

If we're gonna compare, let's give them both a full season (that's if big Jesse lasts a full term) Bert narrowly missed promotion in his first term and finished 1st at his second attempt, but we'll disregard those for ya and just go for his first attempt at the Prem.

Kenny - now you bring up that point, you are right that it is selective. It doesn't take into account the fact that Bielsa had been working with most of those players for 1.5 PL seasons, and with a few of the players for 3.5 seasons, including several summers for working on fitness, tactics, player development etc. Marsch began from a standing start, with not even a summer or international break to work with the players.

He also inherited a squad of players who may not particularly suit his style of play, plus a few duff signings. What he did is very impressive when you consider all this.

And Wilder did the same ( 9th in his first PL season ) and then just like Bielsa, his team fell off the edge of a cliff after suffering second season syndrome. Blades fans also thought Wilder walked on water for a time too...

Anyway, I would be happy with Kristensen.

He's inherited some tip top players that have been turned into multi million pound internationals and he can add some of his own beef.

The previous has put sooooooooooooooo much value on these players that if we sell them he's handed big Jesse a nice new plump kitty for spending on whoever he wishes to suit his dildo, he's got the luxury of being in the Prem from the off and also the money from 2 seasons there also thanks to the previous, another luxury of his mates the 49er's throwing millions at him.
