Max Wober- £12mil

Rasmus Kristensen-£10mil

Marc Roca- £10mil

Luis Sinisterra-£21mil

Wilfred Gnonto- unknown

Giorginio Rutter- £35mil

The loans in the main will have had loan fees which is why Jack Harrison's £11mil fee is likely quite a bit larger.

Same goes for Izzy Brown type loans, wages and loan fees will have been involved.

We only reported £15mil for Costa but Wolves accounts showed an extra £6mil once we were promoted.

The unknowns mainly u23s all cost something but was never officially reported but some may have been over £1mil.

So it doesn't go to waste how about ranking them in terms of failure and success?

Everyone cost something even if the fee was free (Casilla for example had a few million of contract we had to buy out).

Jean Kevin-Augustin will have already likely cost us quite a bit as it was reported we paid a loan fee in the millions and were paying his significant wages

62)Junior Firpo £16mil
Just been named in the worst team in the PL for this season.
Lukaku and rashford also in that team, I think Firpo is only one from the bottom half.

Well his recruitment got us PL and we survived.

Lets HATE him even more now.
Marsch OUT

Football has undergone a process of bielsification; pressing and possessing, passing rather than dribbling, intercepting high up the field rather than making last-ditch tackles, are in vogue.

Marcelo Bielsa. The light that will never go out.

I think its fair to say (judging on what Cjay has just posted) he's wasted a lot of the clubs money William. I don't HATE him, I just think he could have done a better job of recruitment judging by some of those signings.

Survived being the operative word there....and only just

Costa, Rodrigo ,Firpo, James = 89 million

Maguire (also in the worst team) = 80 million

Lukaku 97.5 million

It's all relative! plus I am prepared to give James another season.

That was down to the manager working miracles with the few tools that he had. That ain't on Orta, any other manager would have been incapable of acheiving promotion with that squad.

I'll cut him a bit of slack

Josko Gvaridol
Rodrigo De Paul
Noa Lang
Jonathan David
Matheus Cunha
Arthur Cabral

all players we've been linked with since promotion. Admittedly we didn't sign any, but we were scouting talented players. For one reason or another we didn't sign them.

Jack Harrison

Samu Saiz

Vurnon Anita
Quasim Bouy
Andy Lonergan
Magder Gomes
Sam Dalby
Jordan Stevens
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
Pierre Michel-Lasogga
Mathew Pennington

Oliver Sarkic
Tyler Roberts
Adam Forshaw
Bryce Hosannah
Kun Temenuzhkov.
Barry Douglas
Kiko Casilla
Lewis Baker
Izzy Brown
Jamal Blackman
Rafa Mujica
Guille Amor
Helder Costa
Jean Kevin-Augustin
Eddie Nketiah
Rodrigo
Diego Llorente
Dan James
Junior Firpo

Neither success nor failure.
Aapo Halme
Mateusz Bogusz
Leif Davis
Ian Poveda
Elia Caprille.
Liam McCarron
Robin Koch
Sam Greenwood
Cody Drameh
Dani Van Den Huevel
Crysencio Summerville
Kristoffer Klaesson
Lewis Bate
Leo Hjelde
Sean McGurk
Mateo Fernandez
Amari Miller

So players who were good value for money and made meaningful contributions are the successful ones.

The Failures are the ones we overpaid on or got poor value for or low contributions.

The either or are the ones who were meh Neither awful or great but maybe still have time to redeem themselves either way.

Has to be said 9 successful signings Orta is responsible for isn't a great record.

More worryingly though is the amount of big money signings we got poor value for.

So is the premise of the OP that Leeds are in the best footballing and financial position in 20 years despite Orta instead of because of?

Look around football and money is being burned everywhere. Better do that than give it to the players via wages :)

Wilko that with transfers it is 50/50 if they are going to be a success or not. Flip of a coin.

Its Football.

A lot on that list were players who were brought in with minimum investment, then handed to some clueless coaches who were unable to do much with them.

It is the algorithm game. Buy em cheap after looking at their metrics and hope to knock em out for a profit.

Where we are poor is the selling on aspect I reckon.

Think of little Brentford. Their current squad has THIRTY NINE

If they can sell a few for seven figures happy days, but most go by the wayside.

It's actually Ian Darkes, I know, not official, I know a lot will say "what does ID know, another shitty pundit ect" but, firpo is in it, he would also be in mine.
