Trippier and Targett are better than the full back options they had

Bruno Guimarães is class.

Wood is a better option than they had besides Wilson with a 1 in 3 Premier league record basically, if he manages 6,7 goals that would be good business given we would need to combine all 3 of our striker totals for that.

And Dan Burn may not be to everyone taste but he adds depth.

Id say they have improved 3 to 4 of their first 11 which atm is something we can only dream of and should be of concern to anyone connected with LUFC.

I agree, but I can't see them suddenly going on a long winning spree as everyone else seems to believe. I've still got them down for the drop.

Will be interesting to know what Bongo & The Fish think about Newcastle's signings?

Howe mainly concentrated on building up their defence with three defenders & a DM signed.

They did improve no doubt but the task is still immense.
Norwich have had an uptake in form, Burnley still have a lot of games in hand and will be fighting for every point.
Watford is doomed, their schedule is atrocious.
Everton have enough quality but they will be struggling down there, I think they will be safe eventually but it won’t be pretty.
One of Southampton, Palace and Brentford will be down there too.
Leeds have the best Manager in this list, and able bodies returning, we will be fine.

Watford and Burnley most likely to go down. One of Newcastle, Brentford, Norwich most likely to take the final spot.

Trippier and Guimares are good signings, the rest are just bodies.

Wasn't really an issue for Botman, Carlos, Nunez. Theproblem was that, understandably, their clubs didn't want to let them go in this window.

If we stay up we'll definitely be back in for Botman and Nunez.

Think that's harsh on Burn and Targett, mind you.

The former is a decent ball playing CB, and a monster to boot. Plus he's a local lad, so there'll be no shortage of effort on his part. Targett is an improvement on Lewis and out-of-position players like Manquillo, Dummett, and Ritchie. Wood is just a big lump, a bang average PL striker who would never have been signed if Wilson had stayed fit into Feb.

Norwich and Watford + 1 of Brentford, Burnley, Everton, Leeds and Newcastle. The toffees biggest gambles are in the manager's office and in the midfield engine room. Unless I've got Van de Beek wrong, he's not a defensive midfielder?

Your biggest gamble was not strengthening at all, when your squad appears ravaged by injury?

In all fairness Fish it's been ravaged by injury for the last 4 years . I do like Burn he's a big improvement for you lot and Targett seems a good solid LB. You'll stay up anyway no worries.

I hope so. If for no other reason that it'll bother the Man Utd fans who live all around me (I'm in Cheshire these days).

Unsurprisingly, the Man City fans I know are pretty supportive of the whole "Being owned by oil rich despots who want to buy success" thing.

Don’t think we will be down there in the relegation spots, our style will ensure we get enough points. Won’t be playing dire football, diving and time wasting and hoping for the best. Agreed we should have sorted our MF at some point but next summer is where it will be, our biggest problem is not playing players in their positions. We should’ve utilized Bate more and played Rodrigo/Gelhardt as Strikers instead of James.

I may have sold Burn and Targett a bit short, they are definitely an improvement on whatever you had before but your style is boring and unwatchable. You may have made enough moves to buy yourself out of relegation though.

Right now, we're very much grinding out results, shackles came off a bit against Everton mind you.

I don't think we have the luxury of playing aesthetically pleasing football just yet. We need to give ourselves the best chance of staying up possible. That means we'll break up play so the opposition can't find a rhythm, we'll share the fouls around, reduce the time where the ball is in play to as small a period as possible.

Next season, if we stay up, I'd hope to see something more like the football Howe had Bournemouth playing, just with better players. He's talked about wanting more progressive play and the signings we made in January certainly are a nod to that at the very least.

Newcastle are unsure whether defender Kieran Trippier will return before the end of the season following foot surgery, says boss Eddie Howe.

The England international broke his foot in the 1-0 win against Aston Villa on Sunday, having scored the only goal.

In hindsight they should never have signed that injury prone knobhead Trippier, and whoevers brilliant idea that was should be sacked yesterday.

Was a risk signing but his two goals given the barcodes six points has probably saved them from relegation already.

Exactly. How many goals do our defenders score.
