49ers in our future?

Post by Cjay »

The expectation if a sale happens is that control would pass to 49ers Enterprises, with Peter Lowy very much involved too. That’s not to say other lower-level investors would not be involved too but I don’t see a scenario where the 49ers vehicle acquires full ownership and then dilutes its shareholding again. Lowy (who joined the Leeds board in June) was in the directors’ box for the West Ham game and is very much involved, particularly on the stadium redevelopment side. The 49ers have been on the scene for three years now and are not losing interest in any way. It wouldn’t be a surprise if we see more investment before long.

Phil Hay responding to a question about what will happen if and when Radz sells.

So how do we feel about that?

Personally I am 100% against 49ers being our majority owners with or without Peter Lowy.

In fact given the ESL nonsense the prospect of that happening would be protest worthy in my book

So how do we feel?

Not for me. Americans don't care for the community aspect of football clubs, they'd just want us to be part of their 49ers "franchise". Not to mention, I can't think of a single club who have been better off with American ownership.

Football as gone dramatically wrong when being a multi-millionaire is no longer enough finance to compete. Billionaire's just make the game weaker imo. I agree with others who say we need a restructure but i can't see that happening without the go ahead of the ESL. So to answer the question what does it matter? It only comes into play if they are prepared to spend lots of their dosh, like the Citeh owner.

Great idea, storied franchise and one of America's premier sports teams. Least they don't mandate murder and torture and suppress human rights

But what we need is a strong salary cap and a more balanced league

The investment arm of the 49ers is not what we need.

This isnt the York family, it is a venture capital group that they run.

The only thing they care about is minimal investment and maximum return.

The last investor whose business practice was the same was a certain Bahrain investment bank, same thing, same objective.

Radz had to publicly dangle QSI infront of them to tempt more cash out of them, if one investor has to publicly call for more support from another then that is a red flag of epic proportions.

They would be an utter disaster.

The only thing wrong with the Niners is they're not the Raiders, there's nothing good about QSI

Nothing good comes from being owned by venture capitalist funds.

Their very business plan is to spend as little as possible and make as much.

On what planet would that be good for us?

As i said the last owner like that was GFH, exactly the same, different names but business plan is identical.

People keep getting hung up on the 49ers franchise and the billionaire owners behind them.

This isn't them.

Incidentally the money invested hasnt been from the York family anyway.

Its been from people like Lowy and the YouTube guy and others investors.

The 49ers merely manage it and make money that way.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the York family except that they are making money from it by managing other peoples cash.

Their would be little to no investment, if you dont believe that then look at the accounts of Manure, Liverpool, Arsenal, and every other American owned club.

They take, they dont give.

Stunning isn't it? The Death Star complete with the Black Hole from the Coliseum in Oakland ..1.9 billion though paid for by the league/Las Vegas and the Raiders

I really don’t pay any attention to stateside sports shenanigans so I’m probably not best qualified to comment, but I hear and understand Cjay’s concerns about being owned by a venture capital vehicle.

Scary.

I wouldn’t want us owned by the yanks, as has been said, they only take ,not give, they know absolutely nothing about the English game of football, it’s soccer to them, says it all.
Yes I’d ike us to have have multi billionaire owners, not yanks mind, moaning about human rights will change nowt in football, if my daughter was abused , I too would want to see her abuser tortured, does that make me a bad person !
To me, the 49ers are not the answer, maybe a Chinese despot eh !

And what if your daughter was whipped and sexually assaulted for the crime of wanting to drive? The Saudi regime is the abuser, or tolerates the abuser...that's the problem. Personally I'd rather my daughter was not abused at all.

Of course moaning about it changes nothing in football...but you are not suggesting that means the moral codes in the world of football are better?

Whipped and sexually assaulted seems to be ingrained in certain countries laws.
I’m afraid that’s down to the grace of god, we don’t choose where we are born, if we don’t like something we change it, I’ve had to move house twice in Halifax, a supposed law abiding country with western values, that’s basically genocide without the mass killings, being forced out of the area you live because the government brings in scum from other parts of the world, yes yes, they deserve a better life blah blah blah, why don’t they come and integrate instead of destroying things, wherever I go in the world, I try to integrate, and I try to help and understand.
Moral codes in world football to me are shite.
