Occupation

Post by whiteswan »

So, if you could start again with a different profession, what would it be?

I wanted to be a dentist but didnt have the right qualifications so became a dental nurse instead. Now, if I had to start again I'd want to be a top chef eventually with my own Michelin Star restaurant

And I would invite you, Bielsa and the rest of the lads for a free slap up meal at my restaurant :)

Do you remember when 'Howards ' opened underneath the West stand 64? I went there for a pre match meal with my mum and cousin. It was really nice, just the right amount of covers. That is where I would like to have my restaurant!

I wanted to be a proof reader or perhaps a criminologist. Instead I'm a legal secretary/paralegal. :bear:
I'm going back to 505, I saw them at Sheffield and they were amazing.

I always loved trains and joined the railway at Wakefield Kirkgate on 19/8/1963.

I passed over to Railtrack in 1994 after Privatisation from B.R., and took early retirement (because I could) on redundancy in 1995.

Before actual retirement, Railtrack offered me a job in consultation and I actually started that before I had officially left my substantive position, but in consultancy I found my forte - my railway knowledge was invaluable, and all the consultants that Railtrack hired always ended up coming to me for advice/interpretation on railway matters. It was seriously the time of my working life, but eventually I had to (and was glad to) join Debbie and Michael in the USA.

I wanted to be an architect but I was badly advised by my school careers advisor and ended up on an OND engineering course.
I've had many different jobs but have been a quality engineer for the last 22 years, currently with an aerospace company in Cambridge.
If I could have my time again I would train to be a physiotherapist.

I don't work well in a team and I don't like being given orders, I'm best left alone to work.

I would have liked architecture or engineering but wasn’t really clever enough to be honest.
I ended up as a fitter, now running an MOT centre.

I had to pay! It really was a nice place to eat, then they shut it down :(
Thought it was a great name for it though and the perfect place for a pre match meal and glass of wine :wine:

I'd have liked to have been a vet or a cricket umpire or a tractor driver. Instead I've evolved into one of these 'jack of all trades' types. Always been a hands on, manual work kind of guy. If I had a penny for every time I've had to say to people "I wish you'd had come to me first" after being called on to fix so-called professional workmanship, I'd be a very rich man. I also wish I'd have taken more photos of the shoddy, cowboy-like workmanship I've encountered along the way. How some people can call themselves professionals I'll never know.

Did you see the fancy interior roof thing which Bates had copied from his favourite restaurant in Monaco?
