Leeds United are pleased to announce the signing of Leo Hjelde from Scottish Premiership side Celtic for an undisclosed fee.

Hjelde celebrated his 18th birthday this week, by signing a four-year-deal at Elland Road, running until the summer of 2025.

The defender last season spent time on loan from Celtic at fellow Scottish Premiership side Ross County, completing a move in the January transfer window.

He went on to make 12 appearances in all competitions at Victoria Park, helping the Staggies secure their top-flight status.

Hjelde also scored one goal during his time with Ross County, which came in the 3-2 victory against Kilmarnock.

At youth level, Hjelde has won international caps for Norway at Under-16, 17 and 18 level.

He becomes the club’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window and will initially link up with Mark Jackson’s Under-23 side.

We do seem to concentrate on the U23's as oppose to our first-team, will be fine if two or three make it in the PL with Leeds, if not would be a sheer waste of time & resources.

We look to have a good set of young talent but who knows? we've been here before!

Bate is looking the part from what I have seen in our three U23's games.

Summerville was brilliant last night. Drameh & Gelhardt have a shout if they keep progressing too

There's too much talk about bringing the kids in but I'm with MB regarding that but then I'm much higher on Costa (as an attacker) and Roberts than anyone else.. Summerville is probably the closest but he needs a Raph injury and no one wants that. Bate should get a chance if two of Klich, Dallas, Forshaw, or Phillips are missing. That gets him on the bench for sure for me

Why not indeed a very impressive debut from young Leo.

Just as Mental has posted, I hope Hjelde starts alongside Koch next week.

No reverting to old type & moving our best RB to a central position.

For the sake of repeating myself, we need spine & a balanced line-up.

Thought he had an excellent debut, especially as he was playing against one of the strongest, fast and trickiest centre forwards in the Prem on current form - well done young man MOT

If they're better than Koch/Llorente what does that tell you, Orta has been magnificent in bringing in young talent. Why waste big money when you can get quality for a couple of mill ...

Defensively he’s better than Llorente, just needs some games under his belt. Been unlucky with that injury he first picked up early last season, hopefully he’s through that now.
