Wouldn't surprise me.

But tbh the club has been so well run in recent years (JKA fiasco aside) that I'm happy with that. I'd rather be skint and well run then (i) owned by some despot like Man City or PSG or (ii) loaded (or else with huge debts, depending on how you look at these things) and badly run like ManU and Spurs.

I think we have enough money for the right player, maybe up to 25-30M.. But I also prefer us to do it the through the youth and purchases for need.. We spent 100M plus last season, this year so far it's around 30M? That's plenty for two seasons at least without standing still (Especially when you consider players do better season 2 under Bielsa)

We still need to upgrade the stadium, maybe look to extend a couple of contracts

Maybe we could do what Villa did and sell the key asset and then go shopping. Who wants to sell Kalvin for 75M and go on a spending spree ?

Dont think we're skint , but neither do I think we are affluent, as fans , we always , always want the best for our club, but, we've had our fingers burnt in the past, and Radrizzani is the most level headed owner we have had in many many years.
Staying up, and staying afloat is still a priority, we pay the manager a fortune so we have to believe in his methods of turning pigs ears into silk shirts, 13th when he came in and still on the up.
Leeds United has always been a roller coaster and probably always will be.
With some of the current players their stock is rising, its when to cash in, then bring in the fringe players.
Many years ago I questioned Billy Bremner on why he bought David Harle from doncaster, who isnt up to the level of the squad, he said, " I paid £10,000 and sold him shortly after for £25,000, its a business"
Surviving in a premier league (greed is good mentality) is paramount to a club of LU stature and ambition, we have to move with the times but be very very careful.

We had Matheus Cunha making eyes at us on social media and Nahitan Nandez's agent saying his client would love to play for Bielsa but we are focused on a midfielder who isnt even considered a top talent by Championship fans?

O'brien isnt seen like KP was or Neves or Olise or Eze or Buendia, he is just a run of the mill player and yet we think he is the answer to our midfield problem? I will never get the obsession we have with signing competition for players rather than clear improvements, you would think Dallas and Klich were Xavi and Iniesta.

3 players have publicly expressed interest in joining us since we won promotion.

Cunha
De Paul
Nandez

Cunha is in talks with the La Liga Champions, De Paul is already there and Nandez almost joined the Serie A Champions and now is being tracked by Spurs who arent a huge club but at the moment have far better players than us but they feel Nandez is good enough for them to.

All 3 of those players despite their public interest we have dismissed as targets.

We commited to spend over £20mil on JKA with wages and loan fees, over £20mil on Costa, £30mil on Rodrigo.

But Cunha, De Paul and Nandez (who is available on an initial loan) are to expensive or not good enough? Nonsense our attitude to fees and targets is so weird

Yet Lewis O'brien is good enough ? Its utterly bizarre

A concern i have is are we building a squad that can cope with the inevitable drop off once MB leaves?

MB has consistently worked wonders with these players.

However the next manager may not be so good at that and if that is the case the drop off in performance levels may be drastic and could see us in a real relegation scrap?

Without being disrespectful its widely accepted on paper we havent a top half Premier league squad, in terms of talent and quality we are probably nearer the bottom than the top but thanks to MB and the effort from the players we have so far managed to exceed those levels through excellent coaching and hard work.

When MB leaves its very possible the new boss wouldn't be able to sustain that and that would be a major concern imo.

Thats the issue i have with the clubs transfer policy and this 2 years worth of transfers in 1 window nonsense.

You have to improve year on year at this level, next year MB may be gone but our matchday squad will still be made up of 4 or 5 Championship stalwarts in their 30s struggling to maintain performance levels above their natural ability.

A new manager may not be able to squeeze as much out of them as MB and thus we may need to spend £150mil next summer rather than say £70mil this summer and £50mil next.

Standing still now may cost us far more later is what i am driving at?

Leeds United 'target' Matheus Cunha has rejected a lucrative offer from Zenit St. Petersburg according to the latest reports.

The Brazilian international is only willing to leave Hertha Berlin this summer to join a "top club" according to German news outlet Bild.

Would Cunha consider Leeds as a top club?

Leeds will allow a winger to leave Elland Road this month with a loan or permanent move being considered for the unwanted star, a report claims.

Shame if true

What makes you think any new manager would want the 60-70M players we buy? New manager would want to build his own team anyway.

It's fairly clear that we like so many in the division are waiting for the big transfers to happen or fall over. Every day I read the rumours and realise almost nothing is new, unless it is news of someone potentially being sought after e.g. Bamford / KP. The way Orta has worked in the past would suggest there was little news before we made our signings, however our fans need to realise this season perhaps is a 'holding pattern' season i.e. stay up, sell shirts, take gate receipts.

I certainly do not expect us to be active in the transfer market, especially with ER extensions in the near future. I would however not be shocked if we sold Bamford or KP for a huge offer, because clubs like ours in terms of revenue can't refuse that sort of injection.

It all feels like a letdown after last season, but it won't when we see the onion bag ripple at ER from a Raphinha rocket in front of our glorious fans! Let's keep our heads up, but our minds reasonable.

Phil Hay said today that he can see the logic in a winger but that will only happen if Costa leaves.

How about actively trying to sell Costa to help fund a winger?

We have a very strange desperation to try to cling on to players.

Sell bit part players to bring in better players? We never seem to do that its really weird.

Niall Huggins is closing in on a £600k transfer to Sunderland.

Wasnt that long ago people wanted Huggins to be given a chance in the first team.

Puts in to perspective imo how much some of our fans overrate our u23s.

Don't disagree in general, and oddly, Huggins didn't do too bad in the one game I remember him coming into and playing a couple of positions in that appearance. However, when you see Summerville tearing it up you do wonder.

Per Huggins, is 600k the right price? Is it too little for a well-rated player? I would hope we have some serious sell-on clause tied into that deal.

Good footballer, think he would have been fine as a back up. I don't over rate our U23's, there are a lot of good ones coming through and we need a strong youth set up...
