Spread a thin layer of cream, so the jam doesn’t crystallise on the scon/scone, add the jam then the rest of the cream is my preference.

Mrs is Scon and Jam first where I'm scone and cream first, subject of many debates.

I'm now thinking it depends on the cream. Very thick, clotted cream (consistency of butter) has to be spread on first and then jam. But, if its very light whipped cream, then jam could go on first followed by dollops of whipped cream. You cannot really dollop clotted cream

I very much beg to differ. Clotted cream can DEFINITELY be dolloped.... :)

LUrpak, but strawberry jam (not marmalade) and then whooshy cream..

As Bon Jovi sang, you're halfway there.... Jam first is correct. It's a scone not a scon! :bear:

Theres a cafe in Amble where you can have black pudding and bacon scon ....it sounds radge but its good.
