It is being shown on Sky Atlantic currently, and Mrs G and I are enjoying it. Only downer is that we have to wait a week to see the next episode. Can't say that I have noticed the accent that much, although I have read that it drove Winslet crazy trying to perfect it. It isn't a good advert for that part of the US, though.John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 4:25 pm Don't know if you can get it over on your side of the Atlantic, but HBO is showing a new limited series, "Mare of Easttown."
Kate Winslet plays a small town police detective trying to hold her life together under very trying circumstances, and her performance is beyond great.
It may take a while to get used to the accents, but it's worth the effort (listening to Winslet, you'd never guess she's from Reading).

I watched the first 20 mins but I couldn't cope with Kate Winslet having an American accent. She's so British. Maybe I'll give it another goGandalf wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 11:59 am It is being shown on Sky Atlantic currently, and Mrs G and I are enjoying it. That part of the US (central Pennsylvania and West Virginia) was highly relaint on coal mining. As a result, poverty is rampant there now. Nearly 20% of the West Virginia population lives below the federal poverty line.Gandalf wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 11:59 am It is being shown on Sky Atlantic currently, and Mrs G and I are enjoying it. I've also just started watching Mare of Easttown too.
It seems very good and Kate Winslet is brilliant.
She's also still a hottie

We haven't watched The Pact yet, but it is on the list.
Mare of Easttown is excellent, one episode to go. Also watched the second season of Innocent this week, which is also good.
