Re: Ryan Kent
I think he would be a decent signing and particularly under MB's tutelage for sure.

Re: Ryan Kent
Scotland had a decent top division back then. Now it's two championship teams and then a lot of lg 2 teams ..If you play for Rangers this year your basically playing in the equivalent of lg 2 football in terms of competition, even Celtic were poor
Lorimer never played in Scotland, McQueen cost us 30 grand which would be what these days a million or so? Jordan cost us half that...Those three came into the youth set up first here like the likes of Sumerville/Huggins etc. I'd imagine Kent wouldn't be U23 money

The same clichéd statements were made about Scotland then that were made now. Which was my point.faaip wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 10:28 am Scotland had a decent top division back then. I'm not sure that they were. Celtic won a European Cup for starters .. there used to be a decent Dundee team, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs also could beat Celtic/Rangers on their day

Standard of the Scottish league is pants, though probably some very good players amongst this rangers side. Doubt any of them will be leaving after they've just secured the title, especially not for a reasonable fee

Re: Ryan Kent
Kent could be a very good player and he has dominated at times but you could also look to lg 1 to see if there are similarly dominant players. The step up would bi similar. We've probably got 4/5 Ryan Kents in our U23's ...

I live in the SW of Ireland, everyone around me supports Celtic, I'm not a fan myself.
But I'll say this much for Rangers...McCoist, Cooper, Durrant, Baxter, Greig...they've churned out truly great players that stayed north of the border. Celtic did likewise with McStay, Johnstone etc.
I certainly wouldn't conclude that a player was poor because they play in Scotland...

No and that's the same reasoning I use for scouting the FCS, playing at a poorer level doesn't mean you're a bad player but at the very least you have to dominate.. Also goes for the lower leagues in England, there are Prem quality players down there but it's a greater gamble and so the price should reflect that..
If we pay 10-15 M for a lg one striker I'm sure most here would think Orta has lost it, Kent's value is around 5M for me as unproven talent. Rangers will want double that plus

According to Sky Sports he has ruled out a move to Leeds citing the desire to play in CL.

Thats what I heard /read also, I have definately liked the look of him, but his apparent lack of interest in Leeds has always been a concern to me.Allrounder wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 11:52 pm According to Sky Sports he has ruled out a move to Leeds citing the desire to play in CL.

Re: Ryan Kent
"Rumours" starting to appear again regarding Ryan Kent coming to us ... for me he would be far more preferable than Traore, and probably cheaper (But I do believe Traore is over priced and over rated)...but again for me if they are going to spend 30 mill on a player I hope it is Kent rather than Traore... I hate the transfer windows ...rumours, rumours and dam rumours

Agreed - Celtic were the first Great British team to win the European Cup in 1967.faaip wrote:

faaip is correct though in that top Scots teams of that era were really good.
For example,
Leeds 0-1 Celtic in 1970 - European Cup semi-final 1st leg. 2nd leg we lost 1-2 in front of 136,505 spectators.

desperately need someone creative to play centre mid (assuming Kent plays here rather than as a winger)

Re: Ryan Kent
While some like to -wrongly- imo compare the players in the league with its overall strength (see yesterdays two thrashings as an example , Kent is a decent player, but I am over him coming to Leeds now.
Hopefully Leeds are too.

Re: Ryan Kent
Rangers knocked out of the Champions League tonight by Malmo (Ryan Kent got an assist).
We are apparently after a winger and the club were prepared to wait for the right deal and person.
The club like Noa Lang but Bielsa may not be entirely convinced and we have made no official approach.
I wonder
Bielsa really likes Kent, he is a big fan of Ryan Kent, Phil has reiterated this many times with the added crumb of information that MB felt he could play central.
Kent was a key part of a record breaking Rangers side last season, Rangers though arent ever going to do anything in Europe, what has he left to prove?
He has shown that he is to good for the SPL, maybe he is ready to take the nect step? Will soon be 25 cant wait forever?
I just wonder, know MB likes him, we know we have tried to get him not once but twice, could this be the man MB wants?
I am far from convinced by the standard he plays at, but he has qualities i like tbh, i like Ryan Kent as a player got to be honest.

Re: Ryan Kent
Phil Hay spoke about Kent on this weeks podcast.
Our Rangers writer Jordan Campbell thinks they will sell now and they will sell players to try and get money in, minus their Champions League earnings.
“Kent is an obvious one to go. The one thing Leeds won’t do is meet Rangers’ valuation, which is about £20million.
“They certainly wouldn’t pay a massive chunk of that up front, they would want it to be incentivised.”

Re: Ryan Kent
Despite concerns about the standard he plays at I would do a deal for Kent and have him in the squad by Everton.
I think it's blatantly obvious we need more quality and creativity and he may provide it, would be nice to hear the thoughts of people who watch Scottish football more though.

Don't agree with that at all. It will look like a panic buy and that's because it will be. He's worth no more than 10 million, if that. Don't think he's any better than what we have now.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:19 pm Despite concerns about the standard he plays at I would do a deal for Kent and have him in the squad by Everton.

I strongly believe he is better than Costa and Roberts.MightyWhites wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:51 pm Don't agree with that at all. It will look like a panic buy and that's because it will be. He's worth no more than 10 million, if that. Don't think he's any better than what we have now.
I think their is potential in Kent.
Wouldn't be my first choice but as an alternative to Rodrigo as a 10/8 or Roberts and Costa I'd be relatively happy with Kent provided the price is right?
