With Phillips being out, perhaps he was afraid of the midfield being lightweight or inexperienced, that’s why he took a gamble with Klich.
Thinking about it, maybe that’s why he shuffled the defence again to accommodate Klich with Dallas helping him out further forward.
That could be why he moved Struijk into DM.

Btw, I’m not suggesting it’s true, just a possibility??

I thought Klich was decent first half today. If you looked at the change at half time, I would have thought Strujik, Dallas, Shackleton were all more likely to get pulled. It surprised me that Klich got taken half, until I heard he was injured.

We're definitely light in midfield. We can't keep making do with makeshift backups like Dallas and Strujik. Shackleton looks like he's close to establishing himself. But youngsters like Jenkins, Gotts, McCalmont are another year or two away. So we need one or two midfielders. Obviously we made it a priority with Cuisance before it fell through so I'm sure we'll me in for at least one big signing there in the summer.

I had Klich as second on my match ratings at HT but obviously dropped down due to some very good second half performances...Huggins is probably a better centre mid than he is wing back, I'd give him every opportunity I could.

Thought Klich looked like a wooden horse tbh, struggled to keep up with the pace of the Arsenal players.

Shouldn't have played if he wasn't 100% fit, he's not the quickest when he is fully fit.

Once again favourite players defended to the hilt.

I think its pretty likely Klich is suffering from a hip issue and probably has for some time.

If we had less of a paper thin midfield would Klich even be in the squad? Is he being used when he probably shouldn't be?

No point risking him if we had adequate cover unfortunately we didn't. Now Rodrigo is back i hope they work on getting him fit and raring to go for next season if that's what it takes?

I have no doubts Klich has been struggling with fitness (and/or fatigue) over the past couple of months. As for playing at his best, I think part of it is the system. He seems better suited as the most advanced of a 3 man midfield. But when Roberts or Rodrigo play the 10, he doesn't cover the 8 role as well. It's a role Dallas seems better suited to. I think that makes him a rotation player next season, as we add players and depth. But that should also be better for his fitness

“I started [Leeds’ last] two matches on the bench.

“During the last three years, I have ‘loaded’ some of these games, on top of that I didn’t have any holidays.

“Fortunately, I have avoided serious injuries, but minor ones started to happen to me, from overload and from the intensity.

“My joints don’t hurt yet, I’m only 30 years old, but something hurts.

“At the club, we also train very hard between matches, so it’s hard to regain freshness. 

“I hope to catch my breath because I play the best matches when I am physically prepared.


“I could have had five goals and seven assists, but my first season in the Premier League is pretty decent“, the Pole added.

At some point the stresses of MB's training regime, the amount he demands from players will take its toll.

Klich been doing this for 3 years practically non stop.

Not surprising he is starting to feel it.

As mentioned before a cycle may be upon us imo, you cant keep thrashing the same players non stop, everyone has a limit.

Maybe some of our Championship winners bodies are reaching theirs?

Injuries/lack of freshness make sense. We saw him put in some really good performances earlier in the season that show he's more than capable as a premier league midfielder. As he passes 30 though, I think he'll have to be part of a rotation next season to get the best out of him.

At nearly 31 and with growing injury issues, with Klich himself suggestinghe needed a rest to the media in the international break, maybe he feels enough is enough?

If true , then I am just glad Leeds got to see him at his best after the Christensen debacle and loan etc , almost written off by the club at that time . I think Bielsaball and 3 seasons of it pretty much is quite demanding , hence injuries and a decline in standards . He may be one that is looked at as being able to improve upon , like Alioski .....so maybe a good move on his part to look elsewhere . Good luck to him .
