The “Twenty’s plenty” campaign seemed to workPeter in Blackpool wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 9:09 am ah right, good point....maybe we should be lobbying teams to reduce ticket prices to a fiver after the pandemic......after all its a working class game and a lot of fans wont be able to afford £15 let alone £45.....why should ultra rich football clubs be preventing hard working fans from going to the match especially during such hard times.
remember at the end of the day football is an entertainment BUSINESS

Here here Richrich_leeds64 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 11:18 am You can’t compare the Revie era to today regarding televised games as there wasn’t the technology or demand for it.
You’re saying people shouldn’t moan and they don’t get it and missing the point. The point in my opinion is greed by the broadcasters. They already receive millions in revenue from subscriptions and are clearly prepared to take advantage of a pandemic knowing full well that nobody can go to the game and charge £15 as PPV. As has been said, many are losing jobs, having pay cuts and generally struggling so this is a very poor decision which I hope the vast majority of supporters boycott because if not PPV could become the norm.

Sky already get the best part of £100 a month out of me. They can kiss my bell end if they think I'm paying an extra £15. Where is the loyalty to me? I've had Sky for nearly £25 years.

chilli, your prepaid package is not affected....you are getting all the games they have promised you.
these are extra games that are not included in your package that without ppv would not be available to watch in any case. if you would rather not watch the game than pay 15 quid, thats cool, no-one is forcing you and your current package of games is not affected so where;s the problem?

Re-read my post Peter.
But for you I will explain again:
I already £100 a month for Sky and have had the full package for nearly 25 years.
For that I receive no 'perks' for my loyalty as a long standing customer and yet they want me to fork out £15 per game, the same as people who may have only been a Sky customer for a year or less.
That is the point I was making.

Peter, I don’t think you understand the commercial proposition that was put to fans at the start of the season. With no fans allowed all games were to be shown across the existing live match providers, I.e., Sky Sports, BT Sports, Amazon Prime and then they gave a couple of games to the BBC.Peter in Blackpool wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 9:02 am if you do not like bt sports, dont buy it
if you do not like sky sports dont buy it
if you dont like ppv dont buy it
i subscribe to sky sports for its cricket, f1 and football, they are contracted to provide a certain number of pl matches per season, which they deliver as part of the service.....then if you want more you pay extra for it. Its a bit like paying for a buffet meal then complaining cos you are charged extra for your whisky.....if you dont want to pay then dont, but dont expect these extra services for free.
On that basis many people, including myself, paid these TV companies to see all the games. With fans money in the bank the proposition has now been changed so that not all games will actually be available. Some will have to be paid for separately - or more accurately, again.
Now if I sold you a car for X today and when you came back to collect it in a weeks time and I said that actually you will need to pay me more now if you want the doors, I’d say you’d be very p1ssed off! Well that’s where I’m sitting right now, along with hundreds of thousands of other supporters.
Interestingly, according to The Athletic, this “initiative”/ scam was not the idea of the TV companies. It allegedly came from the top clubs and that the TV companies are not making a penny out of these PPV games. The money is all going directly to the clubs to compensate them for revenue lost due to no fans attending.
Either way it’s a scam and extremely shoddy business at best. Everyone needs to boycott these games, even though we’d all love to see Friday’s game, in the interest of long term fair dealings with supporters.

I'm not on about them opposing Sky more that the clubs should pay sky for each home game for each season ticket holder1964white wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 6:37 am I don't think the clubs have the necessary powers to oppose Sky Bally, it was a totally different ball game when we were in the championship.
I'll be disappointed with my fellow season-ticket holder friends if they go along with this PPV deal as we've all witnessed how vocal Leeds fans are against Sky TV with the constant chant of Sky TV is f...... s... over the last umpteenth years

one cannot blame the clubs trying to boost incomes in the light of empty grounds, and if the money goes to the clubs then i for one am happy to support my club and in my small way contribute to the "purchase of new players" kitty.Boo Radley wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 3:09 pm Interestingly, according to The Athletic, this “initiative”/ scam was not the idea of the TV companies. I've imputed more dosh into my beloved Leeds than the majority on here especially during our doldrum years.
I won't be spending more money even though I can afford the extra costs, all down to principles for me.
I stopped buying club merchandise whilst Bates in charge ripping our fans off,

Premier League scraps pay-per-view with BBC and Amazon Prime to show matches
Fulham's game against Everton on Sunday, 22 November (12:00 GMT) will be screened live on BBC One.
The Premier League said all remaining games in November and over the Christmas and New Year period will be shown on existing broadcast services.
The £14.95 pay-per-view fee was introduced in October.
It led to significant protests among fan groups and more than £300,000 has been raised for charity by fans boycotting pay-per-view games after top-flight clubs voted 19-1 in favour of the "interim solution".
Now, the Premier League has reverted to the model used in September, in which all 28 Premier League matches were shown live with all broadcast partners - Sky Sports, BT Sport, the BBC and Amazon Prime - screening matches.
It has announced the broadcast selections for the rest of this month, with the competition resuming after the international break on Saturday, 21 November.
The selections for December and January will follow later.
"There is a full schedule of Premier League games over the festive period and clubs are committed to an accessible solution for fans," said the Premier League in a statement.
"These plans have been made with the cooperation of our broadcast partners, working with us to deliver these additional matches while stadiums are missing the supporters who are such an integral part of the game.
"The agreement will be reviewed in the new year following consultation with clubs, broadcast partners and in line with any decisions made by government regarding the return of spectators to stadiums."
Spectators have been unable to attend Premier League games since football was halted on 13 March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
After the restart of the 2019-20 season, the BBC broadcast its first live Premier League matches, one of which - Southampton's 1-0 win over Manchester City - became the most-watched game in the UK in the league's history, attracting 5.7 million viewers.
In December, two full sets of fixtures will be broadcast on Amazon Prime - on 15/16 December and 28 December - as part of its standard broadcast deal with the Premier League.
