My new music room

I now have my whole collection in two rooms as oppose to cd's scattered all over our house.

Now we are looking refurnishing the lounge as our next project.

Due to Covid our expenditure has reduced significantly this year so we may as well spend the dosh on our home.

Me too Gandalf. I stupidly sold my Tyrannosaurs Rex original vinyl albums on Wakey market. (1973 )....I really regret it. What is your Wakey history Gandalf, I was born and Bred in Wakey

At the time I was living in Middleton, South Leeds, not far from Wakefield Road. I was going to go to a car boot, but somebody recommended Wakefied Market which was cheaper, and had a cover over the stall. I had people queuing up to browse through the LP's. Most of them went very quickly. Other than the occasional visit to Belle Vue and the golf course at Lupset, and of course the shops (with the missus) I have no affinity to Wakefield. When I had to travel with work to London, I used Wakey station, as it was nearer to home, and had easier parking.

We still have all our old seventies vinyl, and all our old 80's cassettes. We do still have a working deck (Optonica) and working cassette player (Nakamichi). Both around 40 years old

After sorting out my CD's I've discovered 9 duplicates in my collection

I would use them bottom cupboards for my bottles of heart ease- potions - moxidectin treatments- drinkers and galley pots etc

I would then take out all the middle shelves and put nest box fronts on the rest you have enough room for 15 pair of racers

But that's just what I would do
But it does look smart mind

The last record i bought was
x ray spex the day it turned dayglo

Just south of Wetherby I meeting a lady there from the west wing who works for bonhams
She's excited to see what I've got its being transported from bowcliffe for a sale in modern british art at bonhams in London in December

DR 3 which I bought off a mate in the mid nineties but he'd had for a while I believe. I had an Akai before that. It's been in the attic till recently. Sharp Optonica I got for my 17th birthday in 79/80. VMS10E Ortofon stylus still sounds good if I find a piece of vinyl I haven't butchered. I played a lot of albums to death in my teens with little regard for keeping them in good condition. Still own them all though

I'm glad you put that up 64. The other half moans at me for having half of one of your tall sections. I forgive her tho as she was a PJ & Duncan fan when i met her. She doesn't get it.

Great collection there. Its got to be up there with John Peel's collection. Although i will be interested to know how many are How many are Promo's from when you worked in the industry.

All my own collection on those shelves & the shelving unit in my wardrobe.

Only three that are rare box-sets, two by R.E.M which were on sale for a limited period + a box-set of Robert Wyatt's studio albums which was a xmas present from Mrs 64 about ten years ago.

Thanks for the reminder, I have several promos bagged up in a suitcase somewhere in the shed.

When I see things like that makes me wish I hadn't parted with all of my albums . The chap who was my hifi dealer stroke friend had 20000 albums (vinyl )mostly first presses so sat on a fortune. His cd collection was also enormous.

There must be a trend here. I sold all my Cassettes on Wakey Market in the late 80's. Tbf i thought i got a fair price at the time. There was even a few good quality boot leggers in there what i got from Skegness market where we used to go on holiday.
