Current Spain international.

Been linked to Liverpool, Spurs and West Ham.

Over 100 La Liga matches to his name.

Its a surprise.

Real Sociedad finished 6th last season and were Copa Del Rey finalists last season.

Why would he come here to be a backup cb?

Had to be sooner or later, but I don't really think Bielsa is one for panic-buying or for writing off a first-time defensive partnership after one game. Suppose though this is where the 'buying better than we've got' might come in, and this chap does look versatile.

Absolutely, we need some quality, Coops for all his endeavour, will come up short at this level. I guess the management are concerned about our defensive frailties, and are acting quickly. He will be a very good signing if we can complete.

1. Think it is good that we have players fighting for their place.

2. Being able to start a match with 3 proper CBs in a 3-3-3-1 line-up with cover on the bench as well.

3. He can play RB, as after Dallas I feel we are light there, I know Shacks can play there but that is definitely a square peg and I would like him to develop in the centre of midfield.
