Mates are real mates - supporting Leeds since the 60's when we were kids together on the Lowfields.
As I said in another post...they all said he was excellent today - but where will he be in the next game?
Your sig is a disgrace mate - sorry but Howson is a star. Home grown talent, 100% Leeds and thew his ring up today on the final whistle having given everything he had. He gives 100% you give him 100% grief but have seldom seen him play I imagine. I started at ER in 64. I don't claim to understand the finer nuances of the game but I can see a 100%er when I see one. Taking the pizz out of our [vice]captain is beyond reproach in my opinion. It amuses you for some reason - I have no idea why. Howson saved, turned or won more critical games than any other player in recent times. You and your mates were presumably in the bar?
As ever today he was pivotal in the finest attacking performance since O'Leary and critical in protecting our back line. Week after week as the game goes on he gets stronger and stronger and apart from Hughes is probably the fittest player at LUFC.
ps: my mates at ER today confirmed that Howson was wonderful 'again'.

It's his directness that is different, Watt, Gradel and Sam can all run at people but no one else in the team can play a ball like Howson that takes so many defenders out of the game and puts one of our players in such a good position. Beckford against scum, somma today, no one else does that.

Consistency is a word that Howson needs to take on board. I'm not doubting that he has the skill and talent - he has proved that time and again - but so damn sporadically.
My sig stays....PROVE IT Jonny. And I truly hope he does...I'll be happy to wipe egg off my face.

But why pick on Jonny though?Twiggster wrote: Consistency is a word that Howson needs to take on board. I'm not doubting that he has the skill and talent - he has proved that time and again - but so damn sporadically.![]()

Longest serving Leeds player - but least improved with his time at the club. You yourself have regularly dissed him for his inconsistency.Shields53 wrote: But why pick on Jonny though?
He is Leeds - and I want him to do well - but not just the odd flash of inspiration now and again, whilst going missing for too many minutes.

I think we all forget that Johnny is still a youngen. The boy has years to develop, and find his consistency in doing so.
How many 22 year olds in the prem peform to their best week in week out? Will Walcott score a hatrick next week? Doubt it.
In the mean time, we support our lads, encouraging them to produce the best they can, and in 5 years time, he may well be captaining us in the prem producing his very very best.
PS All hail Somma!!

I have commented on his inconsistencey occasionally its true, but at least hes not been consistently s**t this year like Naylor or Bessone though. And to say least improved, you have to be joking, hes come on leaps and bounds. Hes a young lad, improving all the time and capable of grabbing a game by the scruff of the neck. Been better than Johnson every game and at his best has been better than Killa.Twiggster wrote: Longest serving Leeds player - but least improved with his time at the club. Well put mate.. agree 100%.. When he recieves the ball in a bit of space, he seems to be able to look up and pick out the PERFECT pass, almost every time..Shields53 wrote:It's his directness that is different, Watt, Gradel and Sam can all run at people but no one else in the team can play a ball like Howson that takes so many defenders out of the game and puts one of our players in such a good position. Really, we're blessed with all different types of midfielders... Snoddy and Sam are old-fashioned wingers... Howson a quick-thinking counter attacker... Kilkenny is creative, and great at keeping possesion.. and Max and Sanchez Watt can run straight past people..
