And I'm saying that as someone who isn't a tennis fan... anymore. Last great for me was McEnroe

He was only the 4th best tennis player of his era so i find it hard to say he was one of Britain's greatest sportsmen compared to serial winners like Mark Cavendish, Phil Taylor and Daley Thompson. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 10:21 pm But is up there as one of Britain's greatest sportsmen... Cavendish is another you can throw in the hat. I’ll never agree darts is a sport if it so is chess, backgammon and tiddlywinks.
Daley was comfortably worlds best at the time…. Not a great amount of competition. Only injury beat him

Arthur Fery
On centre after a ladies singles. Was superb v Dimitrov but this will be tougher.
If he grows then next year he will be a whole Fery

Surprised no Wimbledon thread.
Been some crackers including the Jokeavic longest ever quarter final. And he’s 63 this year.
Heck of an athlete.

I tried a Wimbledon thread a few years ago Jay but there was very little interest. I've been glued to it for the past ten days. It has been brilliant this year.

Strange.
Fery doing well. Could be a semi final v Zverev at this rate.

Re: Wimbledon
Wow. Fery destroys Cabolli in straight sets to set up a semi final v Zverez. A stunning performance.

Many tennis players have a dual nationality and then choose which country they want to represent. Fery was born in France but his parents moved to England when he was one month old. Funnily enough, they moved to Wimbledon where he grew up. Then he went to the States and played college tennis where he honed his craft. A wild card to Wimbledon this year and now a semi finalist. Incredible achievement by the young man.YorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2026 11:04 am Don't worry, he was born in France to French parents
