Liam Cooper came on at half time for Scotland, but after just half an hour of action, the 32-year-old came off worse from a nasty-looking collision and required medical attention on the floor. The Leeds man looked in serious discomfort before limping heavily off the pitch to be replaced by Scott McKenna.

Let's hope they don't fancy an old reserve manager.

Very sad!!

They were finishing lower mid table in League 1 right up until their relegation season in 2020-21. In which they finished dead last. Then they finished 3rd in League 2 the following season only to lose the promotion playoff. Their final season as a professional club saw them finish 12th in League 2.

I don't know the details of the club's financial struggles. But it is a troubling sign of the times!!

Sunderland players on international duty

Jobe, Chris Rigg, Dan Ballard, Trai Hume, Alan Browne and Leo Hjelde have all been called up, while Academy players Rhys Walsh and Finn Geragusian have also been selected.

Deadline day signings Chris Mepham and Milan Aleksic will also head away on duty before travelling to the Academy of Light to meet their teammates for the first time ahead of the Lads’ trip to Plymouth.

Goes to show the class of our squad, Swannie.

We signed three internationals in the summer window, plus two more returned to us from their loan periods.
