Terry Hall frontman of The Specials has passed away after a brief illness. Loved them as a teenager and saw them in Roundhay Park around 80/81. RIP

Very sad news

Terry is a legend and one of my heroes.

First gig I went to was Dexy's Midnight Runners, Selecter and the Specials at Carlisle Market Hall. That was a brilliant night, that seems like just yesterday, but it would be 1979 or 1980.

At the time for me The Specials were a symbol that all that racism and stereotyping people was just a load of old bollocks and that all ethnic groups could unite to do great things together.

Gutted to hear the news about Terry Hall. Ghost Town was the first 45 I ever bought and that first album was probably played every day for a year after it was released. The message resonated just as much in troubled NI as it did in Coventry, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds.... RIP Terry
