Dissapointed...... very. Not one itsy bitsy teeny weeny signing. Nothing! Not even a glimmer.

I only hope that we stay up. Not sure we will to be honest.

Is our owner gambling on all our players being fit? WOW. We haven't had a fully fit squad all season. Good luck Radz.....
Lets hope your faith (in whatever it is ) see's us through.....

As if an AJAX academy graduate wasn't ideal ffs.

Fine line between confidence and arrogance
If that's true, we as a club are f**king insane.

I think we should have put a duel bid in for Declan Rice and Antonio. Sorry for the sarcasm but I get narked when a team thinks they can come along and buy your best two players. Remember Jordan and McQueen.

You know how we desperately needed a midfielder.
Nantes winger Moses Simon confirmed a late January rumour that we were trying to sign him

Interesting Phil pointed this out.

We as a club seem to get proper tunnel vision with target.

He compared it to Man City, Man City tend to find 1 elite player and go for them, if they don't get them they don't get anyone that window, Harry Kane for example.

Didn't go for Haaland or Messi or Ronaldo.

Problem is in the elite line up Man City have and because of the wealth and draw they have they can be confident of first of all having the depth to cope in the short term and finally getting their target eventually.

We have neither and seem to be trying to operate in a manner well above our level and end up leaving ourselves well short.

City want the absolute best of the best and therefore only 1 or 2 players in the world will do.

If we can't find multiple options then we need a total revamp of our scouting team.

If it isn't that and we purely decide to focus on one player only then someone either the DOF or the manager are getting this badly wrong.

I would be guessing with us it is more likely we have a list of a few players but we then target the one(s) we think are available. Take Aaronsen as an example and we know that he is playing for a club that is a selling club. We also know that it would be a step up for the player (even though he would miss out on Champions League football). As such he becomes a viable target.

From what we heard about the signing of Raphinha he was on Orta and Bielsa's list so would have presumably been high on any joint list. However we didn't think he was available, presumably thinking his club wouldn't be interested in selling or would want more than we were willing to pay (as they had bought him for a similar fee to which they sold him to us). Suddenly he became available and at the right price so went for him.

I think it is the same with Dan James. Suddenly he became available so we went for him as he was high up on both lists. Yes we probably needed a central midfielder more but maybe none on the shortlists were available.

Guessing that is sort of how we work based on what I have heard from Orta and Bielsa when they have talked about how they conduct transfers.

Summer Transfers and Squad Discussion 2022

It's that time again.

This is the place to discuss the squad, wishlists, speculation and gossip.

What do we need?
Who do we need?

Good place to start given the speculation over our star winger

Victor Orta spoke to Marca and said this.

"Like Brennan Johnson now, he is a Welsh international again, the best young player in the English second division.. Already he is 20. He has rejected Brentford from Forest. My model was to have reached Brennan Johnson when he was 16 and we tried. But it could not be.

Now aside from the fact given the ludicrous valuations we think we can get Championship players for (remember Benrahma for £12mil and O'brien for £3mil) it's likely we would offer £3.50 and a packet of pork scratchings.

This is interesting imo.

Brennan is out of contract in 2023.

He has 11 goals and 5 assists in the League for Forest.

He is versatile, has played on both wings, centrally in a sort of number 10 role and as a striker this season.

He could be somebody we look at

Well I think it's pretty much same requirements as last season going into this ......... plus a striker as Bamford seems to be injury prone . Assume Raph and/or Phillips gone then those positions possibly need cover as I don't think the club have good enough to cover now . Despite what Orta says definitely more bodies required , it's lunacy to say they will follow the same blueprint , it's failed miserably.......you know they say if it's not broke , Don't fix it ....,.well this is truly smashed to smithereens , so do something😡

Goalkeeper to challenge Meslier.
LB who can defend.
DM to assist Kalvin
Box to box midfielder who scores goals.
A top quality winger to replace Raphinha if he leaves Leeds.
No.9 to challenge Bamford.

And that's just for starters!

In my dreams eh :whisp:

How many PL clubs would operate with :

One young keeper
One RB
One LB
One DM
One No.9
Not signing a centre-midfielder in the last four years.

LUFC can't claim they only sign midfielders better than we already have.......really

If we make a mess of the summer window we are definitely relegation candidates next season.
