Re: Raphinha of the Rosary.
Wonderful picture that captures the passion and mayhem unleashed after that game.
Would be better again if it was an indication of Raphinha’s secret wish to stay with us!

Re: Raphinha- Spanish media reporting LUFC are refusing to be bullied.
Harry Maguire went for £80mil.
That being said, demanding payment in full (not instalments) is practically unheard of these days.

Re: Raphinha- LUFC want a minimum £45mil for Raphinha
United are firmly in the driving seat, if we cave in to a hard up spanish team we may as well flog the rest to allcomers for next to nowt, tell Raphinha he's going nowhere till WE decide, and tell his agent to get fucked whilst we're at it, as I said before, everytime barca make an offer below say £70 million, the price rises by £5 million, infact, I'd rather he went elsewhere now, sick of hearing about barcelona, wish the club would come out with something positive.

Unless Raphinha is BEGGING to leave the club why in Hell would we sell him? Premier League quality attacking players are not easy to identify and sign. And they can't just be replaced.
If I'm Jesse Marsch, I sit him down and explain to him exactly how he fits into the team next season. What is role will be. And communicate some ambition. Tell him we are strengthening the squad, and that WITH HIM we can shoot for a top 6 finish and a place in Europe. Sell the dream!! And I would do the same thing with KP. If they can't or won't buy in then sell em...

But we know Radz and the 49ers won't fund new signings.BlackHillsPaul wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 4:22 pm Unless Raphinha is BEGGING to leave the club why in Hell would we sell him? Premier League quality attacking players are not easy to identify and sign. And they can't just be replaced.

Radz has already admitted we operate on a sell to buy policy.
So we need to sell players?

Perhaps a brush with relegation has altered that philosophy? We can hope...
But if players must be sold we are smack dab in the middle of a conundrum. Phillips would be the obvious choice to me as defensive midfielders are easer to replace than bright attacking talent. But KP is more likely to WANT to stay at Leeds than Raphinha. In that scenario I keep the player that more committed to the club.

Why set a minimum. The height of stupidity when selling something that’s in demand

Because we aren't very good at negotiating ?

Re: Raphinha- LUFC want a minimum £45mil for Raphinha
It sort of contradicts with actual events though in the premiership wehere we have spent around £150m and not sold anyone (for a significant fee anyway). I think we had the sell to buy policy in the championship, selling Vieira to fund Bamford then selling Roofe and PJ. I think it is more a case of spending wihin the constraints of what we bring in - i.e. f*ck all income in the championship so selling to fund purchases. Then in the prem cos the income is a lot more then we don't have to sell to buy providing we don't spend too much on transfers. If we were to sell then the money raised would go towards a bigger transfer kitty.
Re: Raphinha- LUFC want a minimum £45mil for Raphinha
Exactly. We're running at a profit, so there's no need to sell players to fund moves. We bring in around £200m a season being in the PL.weasel wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 8:12 pm It sort of contradicts with actual events though in the premiership wehere we have spent around £150m and not sold anyone (for a significant fee anyway). Clubs still have to sell players eventually.
We haven't sold anyone for decent money since Clarke.

: "[We] will have to sell maybe one or two key players and buy other talents coming up like Leicester did in the past so we need to be humble and realistic of our means [so that] we grow gradually step by step."
I'd be amazed if we didn't sell one or two players for large money this summer.
We should be aiming to sell our deadwood and whatnot but they aren't worth anything.

I think we can get good fees for Rodrigo and Llorente. Hope this Atalanta after James stuff is true too.Cjay wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 8:30 pm Radz said in December we would sell players

Perhaps the Raphinha rumors are more smoke than fire. His Father just weighed in. And aside from the Barca rumor no other clubs are mentioned.
“[Raphinha] is calm because he has a contract and all the options depend on him. What he knows is what has come out in the press, nothing more.”

Just shows how poor we were with Dallas getting 13% of the vote, our goalie & a kid whose had precious few games under his belt grabbing the rest of the votes.
