Find it hard to believe that Gnonto was assigned to Faes given the size difference1964white wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 12:28 pm Of course he did, Willy was stood marking Faes, the big defender makes a run & Gnonto made no effort to track him. It's no good having defenders in the box if they make zero movement towards the man or the ball.
Farke would have analysed & seen the two problems that led to their goal, after the game.

Incredible talent, lord knows where he ends up in the game.
Hope that new contract has a whopping buy out clause in it

Hope it doesn't. He is OUR future. Come on Kev, as a Revie disciple surely you would want to keep Archie at all costs...surely?Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 10:44 pm

Well said Swannie. We should be looking to build around academy products, as per O'Leary, not looking to sell to the highest bidder.

Don't necessarily disagree, Cjay, but at the expense of whom? Kamara and Gruev have, in the main, been very solid together, would be harsh on either.

Like you, Nick, I wouldn't want to disrupt the spine of our team.
I would be looking to playing Gray as a midfielder in the PL next season.

Re: Archie Gray
Obviously, I’d want to keep him but the vultures will come swooping and, at some stage, he will want to play Premier League and Champions League football, we are a million miles away from that (well Champions League football anyway).
I just hope we have protected ourselves with a significant buy out clause, so at least we will get proper compensation if/when he does leave.
Anyway, we are some way off that for now

Re: Archie Gray
Looking at Paraag Marathe in the stand, (on Friday night), with his 2 daughters, after the third goal, and then after the final whistle, he looked shocked, in disbelief, exhilarated, passionate.
I could easily imagine him saying: Archie not for sale at any price.

Re: Archie Gray
Are we not more worried the Vultures like Chelsea, Scum might come a knockin for DF.
Let's hope he makes us big enough for ourselves to be able to fend them off by making him want to stay here, and perhaps because...It's his baby, it's his young talent, it's his running of the club, he loves walks in the Dales.......Oh i'd better stop ffs, i'm getting all teary again...

Re: Archie Gray
It would very true.
Personally I think Kamara is very tidy, a better Adam Forshaw.
But he doesn't offer a great deal going forward in terms of final pass/shot.
Vs the better teams he's very useful though and has done very well.
But vs weaker teams I'd prefer Gray who imo is a bit more Mateusz Klich than Adam Forshaw if that makes sense?
So I'd play him vs Huddersfield for that reason and also his confidence will by sky high.

Re: Archie Gray
Totally get that, Kamara is a very safe pair of hands but not the most progressive. Unlike Gruev, who is a very good link between defence and attack, imo. Maybe there's a place for all three in rotation depending on who we are playing as you suggest. Saturday might give us a clue if DF thinks the same way?Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 12:50 pm It would very true.
