Jesse got it spot on with Klich on Saturday, read back and the knee jerker were shouting for Joffy. But he had to regain control of midfield and Klich brought us his A game and it worked.
Then he backed that up with Greenwood which was good too as we went for the points.

So 10 out of 10.

Someone mentioned Bielsa who was imo 7 out of 10 sub wise though the sample size is somewhat smaller for Jesse. ( though home to Norwich when he brought on Koch stank to hugh heaven)

Jesse is more of a tinkerer ( last seaon with so many tools missing from the box he was trying everything) whereas Bielsa was more of a wake up at 4Am with a mad plan and go for it type. Similar to Poch in fact.
Now Jesse has a near fit squad it will be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Yeah. That's kind of where I was going. Maybe players don't have to train to the same physical extents - murderball - due to Marsch's preference towards squad rotation. Plus, I was saying the 5 subs will help us in that regard. Remember the end of the promotion season when we could play Pablo for 45 minutes due to the Covid 5-sub rule. I think Klich could be a key in that regard - if he stickes around. He might start some games then come off after 45 or 60 minutes. Again - a bigger first team squad will really help.

I think you’re spot on regarding the 5 subs. IMO managers need to think of the game as being much more a 16 a side competition, very much like Rugby Union is a squad game not just 15 a side.

So having someone like Klich to come on fresh for 20 minutes to ‘finish’ the game is very important. As we saw on Saturday his experience was as important as being fresh legs. Having the younger players is good, but experience on the bench is going to be very beneficial.

Use of the bench this coming Saturday is going to be even more important, as we’re expecting 35 degree temperatures at game time down here, so our high energy high pressure game is going to be severely tested by the weather.

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. I’ve got a ticket but amongst Southampton fans. It was really easy to buy without membership requirements etc. Didn’t think I’d be able to go as my wife had to go into hospital for surgery, but she’s out & our daughter’s here for a few days, so I’m good to go
