Stop worryin' about what people say, when it ain't gonna stop them anyway.

Re: Leeds Utd v Aston Villa Match Thread - Live on Amazon Prime
If Bielsa had stayed and managed to replicate the results vs the remaining opponents as we had in the first meeting we would be looking at 13 points from our last 12 games (I've included Leicester and Villa).
Now that is being generous because no matter what anyone says we were breaking records for poor performances under Bielsa with our goals conceded and whatnot and its highly debateable whether he would have (I am very doubtful he would have got 2 draws vs Leicester and Villa for example).
So if we give the benefit of the doubt we would have managed 36 points (which is a crap season regardless, less than a point a game deserves no credit).
However the average points total of a team in 18th place (the last relegation place) has been 35.7 points so the 36 points is borderline.
Whatever way you look at it even giving Bielsa the very generous benefit of the doubt we would likely have been very very close to relegation under him.
The liklihood of us sailing away from the bottom under him was never likely to happen.
He may have saved us but the way people talk it seems like it was absolutely certain, it definitely wasn't.
We were doing very poorly under Bielsa he was being deservedly criticised for breaking records for goals conceded and performances had fallen off a cliff.
Nothing about this season suggested some sort of miracle recovery.
I still think had his replacement been someone more successful then less of our fans would have criticised his sacking.
For the season we had Bielsa deserved the sack.
If you take the emotion out of it and base it purely on results then he deserved to be sacked. Many managers have been sacked for better and I am sure Bielsa knew that.
What he didnt deserve was the manner of the sacking, the disrespect and underhand nature of it.
Imo though we have to stop bringing him up now as a way to bash Marsch or the board.
It doesn't do any good.
Have to move on imo.
Look forward.

Never seen us as bad, shapeless, disorganised & lacking in confidence under Bielsa & Marschlufc1304 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 10:36 am Perhaps we would have been with MB, Leon, but I've never once seen a Bielsa team that shapeless and lacking in even the basics as during last night's shambles. I know you see way more games than me, but have you seen us this bad? And did the fans ever leave in droves as they did last night?
Our players are culpable & need to stand up & take responsible for what has been a shambles of a season.
Managers get the sack, not the players who are the root of the problem.

To be honest it's a shame we can't sack the players, they are culpable for the mess we are in, some of our squad needs to take a long look at themselves & their game, their inconsistency is appalling.
It's always the coach/manager who is fired, not the highly paid professionals who can turn up when they want.

I agree mate, but when joining a squad surely it's better to get them on side rather than alienating them in the first few weeks !
