Cjay wrote: Wed Dec 15, 2021 6:46 pm The job Pep did at Barcelona is underrated imo but take your point (wasn't all about cash that).

Simeone and Gallardo have done amazing jobs by adapting MB's ideas without having the wealth and cash initially.

I don't think anyone else would get more out of this squad but the squad required an overhaul as some of us said in the summer and imo I think that loyalty and assumption made by MB and the board put us in this situation.

They were wrong quite simply and pushed this squad 1 season to far.

We will see what happens in January (early doors I hope)
The trouble being in that improving the squad would cost a lot of money. Could certainly agree that we got recruitment wrong etc in the summer but given what Bielsa has had to work with since, especially with the injuries I cannot think of any manager who would have got more out of them or any manager that would get more out of them in the rest of the season and I certainly don't think there was a wonder tactic available for last night that would have avoided us being drubbed.

If Brentford go down with us & Plymouth/Oxford/Accrington Stanley are promoted to the championship, I'll have a few new grounds to attend :-D

Fed up with the Premier League & we are not even halfway through the season yet.
The benefits of the Championship seem to outweigh the only benefit of the prem which is money.. I've not enjoyed the bias and preferential treatment the big 6 get, the reffing is worse than the championship, VAR is just a way to strong arm a ref to change his mind in favour of the big 4...

We're a small fish in an ocean in this division with no voice. The league going after our players is a massive indication they don't want a fair league .. That and the egregious Struijk decision earlier in the season

No new manager for me. Wouldn't achieve much given how drilled the team are to MBs style. The big problem for me is the size of the squad is just not big enough to deal with injury crises and suspensions; not helped by the seeming agenda against our team by the FA/refs when it comes to yellow/red cards. I feel MB can get us out of this, but we do need players back and fit, he needs to start to use Gelhardt, Cresswell, and Summerville a bit more, and maybe a couple of quality reinforcements especially in midfield. Damage limitation was the theme over this month and go again after these difficult 3 home games of which we're 2/3 through now.

Now I know why I never bothered watching MOTD when we were in the Championship- When you think about it Faaip is right about the reffing and the preferential treatment the so called big 6 get along with VAR.
If we go down it won't be the end of the world- there's more to football then the PL. Best league in the world my arse!
They'll always be a Leeds United and I will continue to support them whichever league we play in as I did when we were in league 1.
In fact some of my best away days were at places like Carlisle, Scunthorpe, Preston etc and like 64 says at least it will be easier to get tickets!

Why are you & other folk getting upset about fans opinions.

It's much worse on the dark side & Gandi, Ges, Sara & yourself are not offended by what goes on there.

Sorry, I don't get it.

I remember that day standing outside the Kippax St when a policeman on a horse swooped in and pulled out a young skinhead girl and dragged her over the horse. He took what I can best describe as a machete from her parka. I shudder to think the damage that could have caused. I suppose she was taking it in, knowing the lads would be searched. Different times, not always better.

Still have fond memories of Carlisle away, evening ko in 2010 when Max Gradel headed one in right in front of us behind the goal at the away end! Was well worth the 2 hours kip before getting up early for work the next day!

They choose to get upset and then chuck the dummy out of the pram, if it doesn't align with their particular view. All very odd tbh, if it invokes such feelings then there's plent of other forums to access.

Adjusted for 3 points for a win this is the clubs worst league start to a season in nearly 100 years.

Appreciation for Bielsa doesn't make that acceptable.

Many clubs would have sacked him by now and many fanbases would have been far far more vocal about that.

We as a fanbase have shown him loyalty imo because it could have easily been much rougher both on here and places like this and at the ground.

I've been here since the League 1 days, pal, and I've just noticed the day that you joined. Did you join to have another moan at Leeds United f**king it up again, perchance ?. It seems to be your specialist subject. What I do object to is you, and Johnny-come-latelys like you, making this board unbearable after every Leeds defeat. BTW if you are talking about me, quote one of my posts - Don't go down the cowardly route of slagging me off by quoting somebody else. Why don't you f**k off somewhere else ?, as you so succinctly say, there's plenty of other forums to access, and some of them would welcome your relentless negativity with open arms.

He's got a lot of credit built up and loads of injuries which is why I think the fans are being lenient however once the 6 point cushion disappears (if it does) I think his days will be numbered.

Me too.
Exactly what did Smudge do to generate so much animosity?
Did he post stuff (that got deleted) that the rest of us didn't get to see?
I honestly find some of our posters far more annoying and offensive with their attitudes than anything Smudge ever posted.

On the subject of being too negative or conversely being too positive can't people accept that other people see things differently. You don't have to agree with other people but at the same time you can respectfully disagree. They are not automatically a dick or an idiot if they have a different view of things.
Cjay remains the poster boy for someone who eloquently states his views and does not resort to name calling or anger with those who disagree with him.

I show appreciation for Bielsa because I have a realistic view of how strong the sqaud is. I am under no illusion that a simple tweak in tactics here or there is all it would take for us not to get battered if the likes of a City, Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool play well. I don't disregard teams by saying it's only Watford, Brentford, Burnley etc, they are all decent sides who have some good players. I appreciate the efforts given by our players, which is why despite the scoreline at City I had pride in them still giving their all at 7-0 down - it would have been easy to have simply rolled over and made an embarrassing scoreline even worse. I appreicate Bielsa and the players for playing some brilliant football at times, some of the best football ever played by Leeds United teams.

Sadly some fans think we are much better than we are because we overachieved last season. A bit like how becuase Wilko did so well initially he was expected to keep doing it. Bielsa is a victim of his success last season as are the players. Now they are a victim of the fans.

I've written out about 20 posts today along similar lines and then decided against posting them.. Good post, a bit more restrained than some of mine, but it almost had me applauding
