Can’t see the international filthy rich settling for a manager like Eddie Howe who is not known outside these ( Geordie ) shores.
They need to persuade a European manager, who on merit, can attract the high profile players. Can’t see any of those wanting in at the moment, as they definitely wouldn’t want a potential slog in the Championship next season.

Did a solid job at Bournemouth Eddie Howe but not exactly the big name Newcastle fans were hoping for.

Also failed at Burnley which gets forgotten a lot.

Be interesting to see how this goes.

Howe wasn't happy living in the north, so why would he want to take on a job as far north as England possible.

Couple of my Geordie pals are happy with this appointment, in fact very happy.
I suppose after years of Ashley, then the Bruce debacle, whom they didn't want , Howaaay the lads is a massive step forward for them.
Could well be a case of "careful what you wish for" as Bruce had a better record (I think) than Rafa Benitez.

Sounds like a temporary appointment, whether Howe knows that or not. As someone said earlier, unlikely a top European manager would want to come with their current position in the event they do go down this season. Perhaps Howe is looked upon as the guy to keep them up. If he impresses then keep him on. Otherwise thank him for keeping them up, but move to replace him with that top manager for the new season.

Because the fact his salary will likely have lots of 000’s at the end could have something to do with it

There are some managers you just know would do well. Like Conte. He has set ideas and a system, he likes a big budget, he would have been the perfect match.

Howe is riskier. It could work out.

Newcastle have a strange view of managers. Hated Pardew even though he got them to Europe, loved Benitez and hated Bruce even though their records are almost identical.

I think it's a short term fix aimed at getting Newcastle out of the relegation zone.

They'll probably appoint a big name if they survive this season. If they go down then there's no chance a big name is coming in next season.

Eddie Howe-ay the lads just might be the answer, did remarkable for Bournemouth with limited budget, I suppose they'll assess it in a few months, could go either howe-way .

No, he didn't. Even taking away Points per game, the performance metrics were, by and large, far worse than under RB.

Happy with Howe. He's a decent appointment for us at the minute. On seeing some of the clips of training and the interviews he's done, he's much more professional and modern than Bruce. If he can get the attacking unit working together and improve our ball retention/defending a bit I think we'll still be in touch when January rolls around. Add this DoF we've been linked with and the January window could see much needed improvements brought into defence and midfield.

Talking about Bruce, I was shocked that he wasn't in the running for any of the Premier League jobs that became available, maybe he's waiting for Ole to get the boot?
