Bradford and Boro were more worthy than burnley, just did'nt have the numbers, also Chelsea were nowt in London, always better on the road.
Burnley have harder thugs now........................on the pitch.

I am a third year uni student at the University of Huddersfield and I’m doing my dissertation on football hooliganism, and in particular the Service Crew due to me being a Leeds fan myself. If anyone has any detailed stories about the old days it would be massively appreciated for my project.

You're bang on about Bradford and Boro, they were always up for it (Man City back in the day). I also remember a few trips down to White Hart Lane that got heated enroute to the ground. Even some of smaller league clubs would have a hardcore element.

It wasn't an issue in the ground, but the walk from the station to the stadium. No police presence, a few estates where they came from and then easy pickings. Last trip was in the FA Cup 2010.

Does anybody remember the so-called “King of the Kop” when it first opened? Wilkie, or Wilko, if I recall, he used to stand on the barriers and orchestrate the chanting.

Also a very intimidating group of mainly Afro Caribbean lads from Seacroft called themselves the LULU.

I was glad they were on our side.

I travelled with the service crew on trains, though I was never part of the violence I did see quite a bit and remember doing a lot of running (away in my case). Coming back from Blackpool the cord was pulled so many times the BTP boarded at Huddersfield and said anybody getting of at the City station would be arrested. We thought that was ridiculous to arrest a whole train and stayed on to Leeds. But that’s exactly what happened. Hence my police record.
