So you'd swap James for Costa?
Hmm that's a really hard question atm because for all Costa was pretty shocking last season their is no question that Costa statistically provided more of a threat.
He created a chance more regularly (144Mins)
He scored a goal more regularly (386mins).
No getting away from the fact Dan James record offensively for a £25mil winger is awful and indefensible atm.
Costa was universally agreed to be ineffective last season yes? So far this season James is less of a threat.
Why not start with Gelhardt ?
To me Rodrigo isn't the centre forward we need, his stats prove that, Joff up front, Rodders in midfield and Roberts on the bench.........a park bench on clapham common preferably.
Taking Llorente off was baffling like.
" Man is not affected by events but by the view he takes of them "
Forshaw and Roberts played OK in the first half
If we play more than 2 u23, the team looks completely lost. Maybe that's why klich plays everything when he is unfit.
Good first half, awful second one.
I think this site reached peak hyperbole with a posyer suggesting that Bielsa would benefit from reading posts here...
Decent Euros but he is unproven at Premier league level.
His record for us is poor and indefensible and his record for Manure creatively wasn't great.
Premier league record of 1 chance created per 93 minutes.
His record for Manure was about 1 every 87minutes in the league.
The fact is for a Premier league winger that played the majority of his Premier league career for a club that finished top 4 in his 2 full seasons you would expect a far better chance creation average.
It’s half we were the better team. Was surprised that Forshaw gave way to Klich. We lost control of the midfield with Klich. Ironically Rodrigo was causing a nuisance dropping deep in the 1st half dragging Holding out of position, which created space over the top. I watched MB shouting at him and 2nd half those runs disappeared. 2nd half performance was from a team that were all looking at each other gesticulating. No cohesion at all.
Arsenal did not have to do much for a 2 nil win - and they were awful.

Bothers me that a squad as small as ours is stretched further by these cup games and we can only assume the owners wanted a cup run for the $$. Very happy to see Drameh start and despite his opening mistake, I thought he was excellent. I would have liked to see Cresswell play alongside Llorente and Struijk played ahead of Kalvin - he's too valuable to us right now and our safety in the PL to be risked, but it's clear Bielsa wants his fitness up. Roberts is just not a 10 and we have genuinely failed to replace Hernandez. Rodrigo a better 10 and with Joffy in front of him I think we will hit our stride against Norwich. It's a must-win game.
Two scruffy goals, a goal mouth scramble, and in off the shin pad. Eddie's smile said that he could not believe his luck. There was no beauty in their victory.
Let's be honest here.
With the exception of Smith-Rowe and Pepe, we were playing Arsenal reserves last night. They made 9 changes from the win over Villa at the weekend and despite a reasonable first half we only really had a couple of clear cut chances all game.
I've no idea if the plan was to only give Forshaw 45 minutes but he was doing okay and his replacement Klich, had an absolute mare.
Also, the taking off of Llorente was a very strange decision. He was totally dominant until then.
Well played Cody Drameh though, a decent debut.
So here endeth our League Cup ambitions for another season in disappointing fashion.

Is Ben White not a regular for Arsenal? Haven't really followed them this season. Crazy to think they spent £50m on a bench warmer.

Yes actually I think he is. He and Smith-Rowe were probably the two and Pepe was one of the 9 changes.

Cheer up lads, it’s only a couple of months before our customary FA Cup exit at the hands of a lower league club
The very reason I stopped going to cup games.
Fancy a club not wanting to win a football match, could only happen at Leeds
