More u23s on the way

Fabio Carvalho from Fulham. From what I've seen of him, he just looks like another Poveda. Loads of skill, but so lightweight.

Although I don't see why he'd want to swap Championship football for u23s.
I watched the Fulham game yesterday to check this kid out.

He started.

Not a patch on Michael Olise tbh.

Harry Wilson was Fulham's most influential player.

I see us finishing exactly where we did last season if we fail to get a couple of extra players in ie we're good enough to stand still.

But if we want to progress we need a playmaker in and a box to box mf and also another winger.

We couldn't afford Silva, more likely Herrera or one of their kids.

Tom Horner who tweeted this sits behind me on our coach to ER, nice lad. Know his dad quite well who use to post on here under the username 'Baby Lemonade' many years ago.

Taking Grealish on loan...

When did the club start sending Bielsa to negotiate transfers? I thought that went out in the 90s...

The answer to our midfield problem could be at Fulham.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

The Cameroon international wants to leave Fulham.

He has Premier league and La Liga experience (was a key member of the Villarreal team that finished 5th in 19/20).

And he worked with Bielsa before (all be it very briefly) at Marseille where Bielsa according to Anguissa told him that Bielsa wanted to reposition him as an 8/10 whereas Anguissa was at the time and largely still is a defensive midfielder.

Probably wouldn't be cheap and Fulham rejecteda loan offer already but maybe a loan with an option to buy?

Certainly a far better and more appealing player than Lewis bloody O'Brien.

I don't see signing big name players on big salaries as a dream. Whenever I see a "will this high profile player join Leeds" my first thought is "what are they making per week right now".

If reports are to be believed, Rodrigo is our highest paid, variously reported at 60/70/80k per week. That was following promotion and when wages would be reviewed up for a number of players.

This regime has really broken the bank once, and that was for Jean Kevin Augustin when we were still in the Championship. The tens of millions that may cost Radrizzani should be enough of a burning to keep them away from big name big wage signings.

Two minds here...first question I would have to ask is "why would a player valued at 25mill at the time be sent out on loan , by Fulham? Not exactly a team stacked with luxury players...His market value dropped whilst on loan, somehow got back up ...IMO market valuations are not the true indicator of a players worth as the market is so over inflated right now.

New recruits

Post by mentalcase »

Last few weeks before the transfer window shuts, we are , as ever heavily linked with everyone from Messi to Poll pots illigitimate sons.
However, I think theres proper interest in:
Noa Lang
Ryan Kent
O'brien looks odds on
Personally would be annoyed if we got either James or Troare.
Also, if we get said players where will they fit in, they will definately have to show Bielsa they can run to his standards which means they wont get a start for a few months into season.
Then there is the talent we already have waiting for a chance, Sommerville for one, the U23's are wanting to break into the squad, so, what promise does Bielsa / Orta give to players we are chasing ?

Mod Note: MC I’ve merged your new ‘New Recruits’ thread into the existing general transfer gossip thread, so we don’t have multiple transfer rumour threads on the go (MtC) 👍

Without starting WW3 does anyone else think we are skint?

All clubs have lost a lot of money because of the pandemic.

I wonder if a club like us who doesnt have owners willing to invest as much is a hindrance?

We know Radz doesnt and never has invested to the ffp limit (ffp is drastically reduced this year as well).

We know the 49ers do the bare minimum and probably not even using their money (again the accounts show our owners dont invest huge sums as they are allowed).

Our owners don't issue shares and stuff to invest more captial or do big loans like some owners (Brighton owner put another £32mil in the other month meaning he has invested over £400mil into Brighton).

The money we spent last season was the money we got for promotion and now the money we got this season is going towards running costs?

That would explain why we seem to really be struggling imo, even with Firpo and Harrison we are still bottom 5 for squad cost.

Their is also the JKA factor.

I know what Kinnear said but he is never going to be totally honest

Not attacking the owners but the fact is as the accounts show they dont invest tens of millions every year which in the top league is a possible issue as most owners in the Prem do.

Just seems odd that we have on paper huge financial backing but in practice are really struggling seemingly to pay up for players.
