Ditto Ron, not my type of manager but he probably would have given them their best chance of staying up, plus they could have probably spent the couple of million compensation on a new player rather than into Pullis bank

I would keep them away from football completely Rich.
It shows how outdated the FA are when they put Allardyce in charge of England, wtf. Southgate is no better.
This football was popularized with Harry Bassett and Graham Taylor, etc.
In League 2 my old local side Carlisle United are managed by Chris Beech, who although not young is making a fist of it and got them up near the top of that division. I'd rather give English coaches like him a chance than these ancient clowns.

Ironically my dear mum was born not far away from Carlisle so as kids we spent many happy times with my uncles, aunts & cousins away from Leeds during the school holidays. Mum & my older relatives are now buried in Shap, my four cousins are still with us who we stay with every two or three years. My Uncle Derrick was a staunch Carlisle supporter still watching them at Brunton Park when we were in League One, he was in the opposite terracing to me in the Leeds end even as a late 70yo bless him!

Wouldn't happen in civvy street, once sacked your managerial career is tarnished & your chances of another job of that status would be few & far between

I've watched Carlisle a fair bit over the years and the current set-up seems good. Peter Beardsley was at Carlisle before he went back to fame and fortune at Newcastle. Brilliant player.

I also used to watch Workington Reds, which was the closest non-league side to us, at one stage Bill Shankly managed them before his LFC days. Also saw Bobby Robson scouting at Workington when he was in charge of Newcastle, lovely fella RIP.
