XI for me against Newcastle:

Meslier
Ayling Struijk Cooper Dallas
Phillips
Raphinha (?????) Klich Poveda
Bamford

I can’t even begin to decide who should play in that midfield role...

Rodrigo? Not after tonight
Hernandez? Not ready for 90 mins?
Roberts? I wouldn’t even watch the game
Shackleton? Maybe
Dallas? With Alioski LB, maybe

Was always gonna be a tough season anyone thinking otherwise was kidding themselves, despite the £100m we still are 80% a championship team and when we dont play well it really shows - should spend all week working out set pieces as for and against we are piss poor.

Don’t mind losing games for this reason WhiteRose.

Cannot excuse a performance like that though.

No effort. No desire. No backbone.

Desperately waiting for the player ratings thread to pop up so I can give every player a 1/10 and go to bed.

Tonight was so disappointing. We get the early goal we're crying out for, then gift it straight back. It was always obvious they would score v a set piece and we kept giving away cheap fouls to offer them the opportunity. Not like we were thoroughly outplayed by a better side, just shocking all around. Only 1 win at home, so disappointing as well.

The system cant cover for a mainly Championship level side.

MB is loyal to a fault, it worked in the Efl, it wont work in the Prem.

The system cant protect players as much and it damn well shows.

We are a left back, left winger, cm short of Prem level (as well as Llorente and Koch).

Man for man is an accident waiting to happen, said it before.

Agree that we kept giving cheap fk’s away, if you can’t defend them don’t give them away - stop them at source, both Costa and Rodrigo did the same thing and invited pressure on us, stay on your feet and shepherd the man away, basic stuff.

And the corner in the first half. Harrison to clear but tried to be too clever.

You have to say the set-pieces were avoidable if first Jack deal with the ball instead of trying to let in run out for a corner. And then Costa puts in a pointless meaningless challenge. There is too many attack minded players in this team and its starting to show, but not at the right end of the pitch.

Dallas gets beat to easy for the first and Cooper is done for the second. As most of us predicted before the game we were done with ease from set-pieces. The most annoying thing is players have so much space to play. Benrahma looked a world beater tonight because of the space he found. Raph & Rodrigo would have a field day playing against this Leeds team.

Newcastle now becomes a massive game to stop the rot. I think Bielsa would like to mix it up, but what can he do? The only real PL quality player i see on the bench is Hernandez and he is obviously not flavour of the month.

Leeds1000 wrote:Where has that early season zip gone? That was poor tonight. We made West Ham look good tonight which is a real concern because they are a mid-table team and that's no disrespect to them. If we can't head a ball throughout the team can someone tell me the point of having wingers? Rodrigo should have scored at the end of the game there. It would have been get out of jail stuff.

Meslier kept the score respectable again. Our play is becoming so predictable even septic peg could pick our team. We potter around at the back with the ball, move it out to the wings usually with the FB joining in the attack, it inevitably comes to nothing then Declan Rice runs forward in CM unchallenged then passes it out wide whichever side the fullback as gone missing. Bowen must have thought Christmas had come early he was left on his own numerous times first half why Alioski was still on the edge of their box.

The confidence is starting to drain, you can smell it. We are shot defending set-pieces, and we are going through one of them couldn't score in a brothel periods. Not looking good folks.
Spot on mate, far too slow coming out from the back the opposition must get bored waiting for them to attack.

Welcome celebs, many Leeds fans from the Emerald isles mate. A few on here, mainly from North of the border. But don't hold that against them, they're not a bad bunch :)

Yep. Every week we see someone having a straight run through midfield, as there's no one there. No pace through the midfield at all to cover. Surely we can't be deluded enough to think we have enough in January?

Thing is though SG, we got through that bad period in the Championship and went on to win it by 10 points.....but I do think that the Premier League is different. We are dependant on other teams I feel.....

Klich looks shot, tired and lacking confidence. Take him out give Shack a game there.

It was always going to be difficult tbf to fix all our squad issues in 1 season.

But that begs the question is BielsaBall sustainable over 1 season in the Prem without the higher level players?

There is a reason most Prem sides play on the counter, its bloody difficult to play the way we play at this level.

Even Wolves who had an infinitely better squad realised fairly fast they couldn't play the possession and high press style they had in the Championship.

It can work as we have seen but then chances are missed, or sloppy goals conceded.

The system isnt flawed imo, the system works, its the individual parts that are flawed.

Look how much trouble Pep had in his 1st season, and again that City squad was still much better man for man

Thing is Bielsa will remain too loyal, but for how long can you do that if not getting results?

We need Rodrigo to start

Where is Rodrigo

What is the point of only bringing Rodrigo late in the game

Rodrigo plays and we lose

Drop Rodrigo

Get rid of Rodrigo

Rodri must go
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.
