Radiohead 'Kid A'

Mention Radiohead’s “Kid A”, to music aficionados and that one album title brings up significant discussion and disagreement. For every person who loves it dearly, there are those who dislike it and can rarely be won over to its merits. Is it one of the most brilliant albums recorded at the turn of the 21st century or a hyperbolized effort in esoterica? Whichever side of the fence you land on, the album was a watershed moment for the members of Radiohead.

Varied emotionally as well as musically. The Cohen and Chris T-T songs like Gulls really touch the heart. Miles and Crimson are more cerebral, Fela is a defiant groove; all good stuff.

Only one I haven't heard is the Chris T-T album, surprised to read he has recorded ten albums

Pharoah Sanders 'Love Will Find A Way'
I have loved this for many years, Pharoah Sanders's sax, Norman Connors production and the immortal vocals from the late Phyllis Hyman......gorgeous album

George Duke 'A Brazilian Love Affair'
Duke's love affair with Brazilian music climaxes with this album, probably his best.

Cannonball Adderley 'Soul Zodiac'
Love this album. funky, cosmic, imaginative and downright cool. Nat is one of my favourite sax players

Marvin Gaye 'Hear My Dear'
At 73 minutes long, it dwarfs his previous masterpieces and it seems only fitting that it does. Just as Marvin & Anna's marriage was a slow, sustained dive to oblivion, so the album simmers just below boiling point, content to release the anger and frustrations of married life in sporadic bursts across the extended running time. Indeed, one of those moments is as perfect a moment as you will find anywhere in soul music....one of my favourite Gaye albums

A varied playlist there Smudge

Shepherd's Moon was the best selling back-catalogue album in my music shop, sold 100's of that Enya album with being on the playlist contantly.....impulse sales & the best customer service were a massive part of my business 'The Division Bell' was my best selling new release album

Piaf's 'best of' was a good easy listening seller particularly on cassette format

'Sheer Heart Attack' is my favourite Queen album. I saw Queen at the Leeds Town Hall just after they released their first album, they were the support band. You'd never have thought then they would go on to be the massive band they became, dressed in jeans & t-shirts (including Mercury) & sounding very raw, no flamboyancy about Queen in their early days
